wayrad,
i don't know what "flashing an overclock kernel" is. If it wasn't in the instructions from Crash Tech Dummies then I didn't do it. Is it painful?

Try using the latest CM7 nightly build from

http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=encore

I am using the file "update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-encore-signed.zip" and it is rock solid. I believe it has several bug fixes including some for WiFi issues.

Here are the steps :

- Power off the Nook and pop out the SD card. Connect the SD card to your PC/Laptop etc.
- Download "update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-encore-signed.zip" and copy to the SD card.
- Put the SD card back in the nook and power on. Once it has started up, hold down the power button till a menu pops up. Choose 'Restart' then 'Recovery'
- The Nook will reboot and install the update file. It will power down automatically after install.
- Power on the Nook.
- Profit (.... I think)

Good luck.

LOL! It can be - I ended up in a boot loop yesterday when trying to update the kernel on the spare card I use to try things like that out on.

The stock CM7 kernel doesn't support overclocking the Nook, but Dahlingrin's overclock kernels do. You can make the NC run like greased lightning. A lot of people run into wifi errors when trying it, but the symptoms aren't quite like what you report - still, I thought I'd ask.
