I agree about the resistive screens, especially WACOM enabled screens. But for completeness' sake, pdfs are easily annotated if one has a Windows tablet (e.g. the HP tablet or the new Asus EE EP121), running Adobe Acrobat Pro. It's a beautiful system, works well, but is admittedly more expensive than the eDGe. Furthermore, although on an LCD screen, everything is in full color.

Oh, I meant annotations on an e-inkish kind of screen. Besides, i'm one of those creatures who considers windows to be devil's spawn, and I'd rather not have any truck with it.

Agreed with a grin. Cost and operating system make the edge a better choice for me, who isn't going to use a TabletPC as a main laptop.
