Not to be defeatist but I think this may be the end for both Jobs and Apple. Oh, yeah they'll hang in there for a while, but look what happened when he left before (the first time). Definitely an further opening for Android/Google.

I presume he was waiting on the Verizon announcement before announcing his leave...

I do wish him well. Very important and dedicated man.

Damn. For my grandma, it was barely a month & 1/2 from diagnosis until she passed away. Life sucks.

I do hope the best for him. I read somewhere that the problem was his immune system (from the transplant), but he was described as emaciated, which really points more to the CA.

I knew almost nothing about pancreatic cancer until a talented Japanese film director who's movies I liked "out of the blue" died from it. Link drifting OT of Steve Jobs, but worth reading:

Not to change the subject...
But money CAN buy love--just look at Hugh Hefner and his new fiance. What money can't buy is happiness.

Back on subject...
Steve Jobs has been the heart of Apple and has kept it alive. I'm not an Apple fan myself, but I'm really interested to see what the company does without him.

There is a big difference between love and purchased physical companionship.

Steve Jobs isn't going anywhere, he's just phasing himself out to create the iJobs CEO, soon to be installed at the head of every major corporation ensuring his immortality.

I sure hope everything works out the best of Jobs. He seems like a great guy, and without him, Apple would not be nearly as successful as they are today. I remember when Apple stock was less than $4 a share. Then Jobs came back and look where we are today.
