All you have to do to synch is to turn the WiFi on for a little bit after you have finished reading so that your Kindle can send that information to your account archive. Then when you pick up a different device, you turn on the WiFi to synch. The WiFi does not need to be on continually.

![]() I've rooted my Android phone and underclocked the processor to about 1/5 of its usual running speed. Email, the internet and even my GPS software all run at perfectly good speeds at this clock - the only thing that suffers is playing games, and I never do that. It seems that HTC's build of Android keeps the clock at a high speed most of the time. They're probably afraid that some users look for the fastest possible results when reviewers do speed tests on the devices. Looking at forums, in reality the average customer would much prefer improved battery life. With the vanilla build of Android I would be lucky to get a day's usage out of the phone before needing to recharge. I now get about three with the same use. I should think that Amazon's software engineers just made good decisions to balance speed and battery life. The processors in these devices become really inefficient as soon as they start to heat up (of course, the battery doesn't like the cold, either). It makes me wonder why Sony couldn't get better battery life out of their devices, frankly. I know the touch screen must use power, but it feels like when you have the Kindle in sleep mode it is using practically zero juice, whereas the Sony is still using power to perform some task. |

Yet to see a 2 week battery life
I've had my Kindle 3 for almost 5 weeks - long enough to read 13 books on it. I just finished charging it the 5th time. I leave wi-fi on and don't have 3G since I can only just get a signal at my house.
So that works out at 1 week of heavy use per charge with Wi-Fi turned on. |

If you are syncing your Kindle with "Kindle for PC" or "Kindle for Android" etc , then you need to turn it on before you finish reading so it will know the last page when you start reading on another device.

I leave mine off and only use it to transfer purchases, but I did realize something else... I got hit with a random reboot the other day and it took me back to my farthest read point from a week before! It was a pain finding out where I was.
