But apparently, she's starting to allow them to eat fully clothed.
I also fed the kids when they were younger without clothes. Especially when they were learning to feed themselves.
Not only are they easier to wipe down but if one doesn't have a washer and dryer, it gets expensive in a hurry washing all those clothes. (Not dating myself but it was 50 cents to wash and 25 cents to dry for each load.) And that 75 cents a load wasn't always easy to come by.
In the summer, I let my daughter run around in panties in the back yard.
2 reasons, one it was shady and two the outside faucet dripped so she always played in the mud.
She didn't turn into a nudist.

My dad did everything himself in the house, and he did it impeccably. Now he still does things himself, but I think there actually isn't a way of doing them worse... Fortunately he's not doing any building anymore. It's all things that can be easily fixed if need be. New wallpaper, new paint job, that sort of thing... when sold, the new owners of the house will probably replace the kitchen first thing, as it's now almost 30 years old and about to fall apart.

In the last house we owned, I used to make some wooden furniture as a hobby. In fact I did make some stools and bookshelves and a side table with drawers for myself. I was particularly proud of that furnuture and showed that to the prospective buyers of the house with a remark "I made it myself."

When the house was finally sold about five years back, the buyer politely offered me to keep the table with me and I was overwhelmed with his appreciation for my handicraft and his generosity. When we were leaving the house with our other stuff and my table in the truck, it was my wife who rolled her eyes at me an said "Did I not you tell you earlier that no decent person would like to keep that piece of junk with him...."

Ah, OK. If there was a clue, I didn't get it, because I don't know The Nits (even though they seem to be Dutch). Sorry to say, the joke seems to have failed. If you need more ideas to try again, there are a lot of possibilities to choose from.

Good luck

I'm old enough to know them; I'm just not interested in Dutch 80's music (or Dutch music in general... or Dutch writing after 1925 or so). However, I did go and listen to some of their songs. They do have some good beats in there. They may be worth catching up on.

Wookie roar of pain, that was, my little .

Back OT: wasn't "In the Mountains" one of the Nits' best-selling albums? Named after the hit tune, obviously?

(Kats, seriously, you don't know who these guys are? WOW, I feel old.)

I feel weird. They're Dutch, they've been active for over 40 (!) years, they had numerous top 10 hits and albums, but I have seriously *never* heard of them. While I don't really follow music made by Dutch bands, I do at least know most of the prominent ones by name.... but not this one.

I know a lot of music from that period, I actually like that period since I was in my teens around then. I never really was into the Nits though. Not really my type of music, but it was played to death on the radio. That being said, The Dutch Mountains was a big hit, also outside the Netherlands. It was also covered a couple of times, one time in Dutch by Freek de Jonge (Dankzij de Dijken.

If you were in your teens in the 70's or 80's, then you're at least 10, to possibly 20 years older than I am.

Lucky you. You actually might get some sort of a decent retirement. If the current rules with regard to retirement don't change, my projected retirement age is 71 years and 2 months. I just can't see that happening.

I might, but I don't think nor expect so. For many years already I am assuming that there will be nothing left when I am finally allowed to retire. That, or the retirement age will be at 75.

That, and because of the over-flexible job market of today, I've always said that retirement should not be arranged by the employer. At the end of my working days, it's completely conceivable that I've had 15-20 employers, all with a different retirement fund. You just don't know what you're getting. People should be allowed to just arrange their own retirement. (I mean: the portion the employer now pays should be added to the salary so you can arrange your own retirement.)

There is even talk that if people arrange their own retirement, on top of the already existing facilities (in which you are obliged to take part), the government should be allowed to deduct the self-arranged extra from the retirement. That's just idiotic.

Together with the fact that you're not allowed to have any savings (almost) or anything else of worth, if you ever need to fall back on welfare, it's almost impossible to build a stash for yourself, except if you live together with someone on which you can fall back, and thus avoiding welfare.

I understand that giving welfare to someone who has a net worth of 3 million is a bit ridiculous, but for 'normal' people, who have normal amounts of savings, welfare should be a last ditch fail safe until they find a new job; they shouldn't need to be spending all of their savings first. Because of that, it's 'better' to just not have any savings; it's not worth it, under the existing ruleset.

Therefore, I fully expect to be completely grounded, financially, when I'm 67; either because I didn't save anything, or I lost all of it (including the inheritance) when ending up in welfare. I just don't expect to be able to keep working uninterrupted without any layoffs for another 35 years.

I'll quit now, or this will turn into a serious political rant.

How is one suppose to pay bills or buy groceries if your paycheck is short due to person doing payroll forgetting to add in vacation pay? That is half a paycheck.
Too many people live paycheck to paycheck for that to happen. Is the payroll person going to make sure the person's family has enough food for the time it will take to fix the error? Is the payroll person going to make sure the shorted person gets that ham and turkey? Local store is having buy a ham get a turkey free. Sale ends Tuesday. I just gave myself an idea.

Note:I am more upset than worried. No bills actually due until at least the 12th. And I have enough to go grocery shopping on Sunday.
It is the principle of it.
