That was always a consideration for me too. But Southern farm families tend to notice when a daughter gets pregnant. It's often hard to hide. A baby would also be a large bundle to be seen getting thrown off a bridge.

Good morning, everyone. A good philosophical question to ponder for this June 3rd... Just what DID she throw off the Tallahatchie Bridge? Hmmm.....
