Any news on when KOBO ereader will be at walmart? - Page 19

Likely the devices affiliate tag is set to WalMart. Editing that to Kobo would likely get rid of any WalMart branding...

Here in central Iowa I have seen no Kobo readers in the Walmart stores. I was going to wait a bit but then I left my Kobo Aura HD sitting on the roof of my car and drove off. It was in a protective case but it fell off on a busy street. Tears...
Ordered an Aura H2O from Walmart on Saturday. Pickup in store on Wed. or Thurs. A little slow for my taste. I have been coveting Overdrive integration for quite a long while so my wish is soon to be fulfilled. Otherwise I probably would have waited for my Aura HD to fail in some way.

No, no. This requires you to plug your Kobo into a computer and edit the affiliate in the .kobo/affiliate.conf file.

If you open that file with something like WordPad, I suspect you will see a line that says 'affiliate=Walmart'. If I'm correct, you can change that to 'affiliate=Kobo' and that will get rid of the Walmart logo.

That's the way it's worked for other Kobo affiliates (my Aura, purchased off eBay had 'affiliate=FNAC'). I'm assuming Walmart works the same way, but I lack first hand experience, so therefore all the assuming on my part.

Is there a way to get rid of walmart logo? I closed my walmart ebook account and moved my books to my regular kobo account and it made no difference

I will try that. I hate the walmart logo

I changed Walmart to KOBO now it displays nothing at startup lol

Is that an improvement? On mine, that stupid FNAC logo didn't just show at start up. It was the screensaver when the Aura went to sleep. I grew to hate FNAC

Isn't "nothing" the standard Kobo start-up? I get the dots and the "smiley" eReader on my old Kobos.

I'm going to try to see what the Walmart logo looks like (just out of curiosity). But I'm now looking at my Mini and it reads "affiliate=ABA-20Gxxxx" — does anyone know what that's all about? I thought I had changed the affiliate to "Kobo" so I could get the 3.19.x firmware?

EDIT: Well, that change anything. Maybe the Minis are too old for branding? Or maybe you have to log out of the account? At any rate I've changed it back to whatever that is above.
