I did some more exploring and found a decent amount of children's books in KU. Of course none of the popular series like Big Nate, Warriors, or Percy Jackson are there but there might be enough to keep my kids entertained.

The Boxcar Children books are in KU. If your kids haven't read these, they may enjoy them.

Yeah, been reading the first one thanks to KU. The strips are very repetitive, but I think I prefer them to the later ones, and I probably won't get any of the other ones. Unlike a lot of people, I wouldn't put Peanuts in my top 20 favorite newspaper strips, but I know it has inspired the majority of the ones I've read all my life.

I downloaded the first volume of the Peanuts comic strip books onto my 7" tablet, but found the print to be too small to read comfortably and couldn't find a way to enlarge it. I could try it on the larger screen of my laptop, but would prefer to use either my tablet or my Kindle PW.

Is there a way to enlarge the text to make it more readable, or is this book simply an image file that can't be tweaked?

If you double tap one of the panels, it will enter 'panel view' and visit each panel in order. That will make it perhaps 50% larger. If you read on a Paperwhite, Kindle Touch, you can 'pinch zoom' in addition to panel view.

Personally I prefer reading Peanuts 'full screen' on my 7" Fire. Panel view just makes things very tedious.

Yes, on those books that qualify. Sometimes it says it does, but won't show up. Have not seen one lately that didn't work - and have not looked. If they work they automatically show up in your library (cloud) in audible and you can d/l them. They will get automatically deleted if the book is returned. Have not tried if you can get them on Kindle Touch or not - but works in audible app just fine.

You are not required to download the audiobook, and can use TTS instead. In any case they are included with KU and the free audible titles are extra (and you 'own' them even if you cancel your KU subscription). You should also be able to download the audiobook to a Kindle Keyboard or Kindle Touch, though I haven't tried that.

There is a glitch in that if you already own a title that is in KU, and KU includes the audiobook for that title, there is no way to borrow the professional audio. If you want professional audio for that title, you have purchase it. I have about a dozen titles like this.

On the OT, in my first free month with KU, I read 2 books (retail totaling $20) and am well along on several others, with plenty more of them I want to read after that. So I don't think I'll have any trouble justifying $9.95/mo. Moreover, I find I'm much less tempted to purchase Deal of the Day/Month offerings so I'm probably saving at least $10/mo there alone. Many of these are in KU so I don't feel any pressure to 'own' them (and hope to someday have time to read them).

So instead of spending money for books I will probably never find time to read, I'm paying for access to books that I actually read.

Go to manage your content and delete the book from your account.You will then be able to get the book through KU.I have done this for a couple that I had gotten for free.

Yes, but I paid for these books. It's a little absurd to have to delete them in order to borrow the same book from KU.

Plus if you delete a book you paid for, it is gone forever. Maybe you should contact support about it and ask about audiobooks you already have the book?
