Chin up! This will hopefully prove to be nothing. If otherwise, then you will have caught it early, and that's good too. As far as WW - I should think this counts as a valid doctors excuse for not doing your normal routine. If you can find other exercises to do instead, that sounds like (at least mental) Extra Credit! Though I doubt that they'll officially notice that you went above & beyond the call of duty. (note: i've never been in WW, so I'm clueless)

Also: I think if the doctors office thought this was a big deal, the doctor would have been the one to contact you. Try to be re-assured by the amount of minimalness they are assigning to the situation.

Thanks, Deb. I am sure you are right. As far as WW, they don't demand we earn the Fitness Points but I find it helps me to be able to actually eat and lose. However, this matter does, obviously, take priority.

Good luck covington cat.

Now rant of the day.
Hey stupid kid,
I do not appreciate the cops scaring me half to death. Though I guess I should be grateful that it was you acting suspicious and not a small child that had gone missing.
Note if you are the ONLY child of your color in a three block radius, you should pull your stunts elsewhere rather than where you stand out like a beacon. Child in this case is white.

Officer first asked me if I had seen a child walking around the neighborhood. I thought small child might be missing. Then he described the child.

There is one forum I check where many people use a a "middle digits raised" one as a greeting and general "you are one of us now" acknowledgement, so I needed to make sure. MR doesn't seem like that type of place.

This thing is right on the side of my knee, which makes me nervous. I wonder what this is going to do to my FP-earning potential (Fit Points for Weight Watchers) for the two weeks I have the stitches in.

Also, I am pretty scared, especially since I feel like the Drs. office is not really telling me everything. I've only heard from some nurse or receptionist or something.
I have had several "dysplastic nevi" (suspicious moles) removed. Most were simple excisions, but the doctor was especially concerned about one on my chest and went with a fairly deep conical biopsy. The last one did hurt a bit, and took a while to heal.

That was 30 years ago. No problems then, or since.

Don't worry (too much). If it's anything serious it sounds like they're catching it very early. And I suspect the results are much more likely to be "Nothing serious but it's good we checked."

Best of luck!

Today I learned that "not black enough" snobbery exists in the disabled community.

NateTheGreat: If you are not going to let that line drop, then I will remind you of what you had said just before that. As I read it, you said that the Oasis was useless to you, and that nobody could possibly be more "disabled" (I read "old" at the time) than you. If you are going to make statements like that, then it *invites* others to say "no, I am older than you".

Don't try to evaluate the Oasis for others, and we won't try to compare our bodies with yours. If the Oasis isn't interesting to you, that's fine. But don't tell me that it couldn't be useful to others.

You're the one not letting it drop.

If you check the timestamp you'll see I came to this thread within a couple hours of the incident. I was pissed, and I vented and ranted.

Then I dropped it.

And as for my comments about the Kindle Oasis, yes, they were strongly worded verging on absolutist.

But so were the reviews which declared it the best ereader ever, so ...

The dryer just died (it's making a lot of noise, gets very hot, but doesn't spin anymore). Since it's almost 20 years old my mother has decided that she wants to get a new one. The problem will be convincing my dad. He loathes replacing big appliances and prefers to get them repaired.

However, first of all is it worth repairing a twenty year old dryer; when will the next part break. Second, a new one is probably more energy efficient. And last, finding a repair service willing to come take a look will be difficult. We live in the inner city, where if you want to come by car you need a permit. If you find a repair service they will charge extra (up to double) to just come take a look.

I can remember when the previous dryer packed it in, we were without for weeks, because my father doesn't believe it's an important appliance; you can just air dry clothes just as well. In the end he gave in, because he got tired of wet clothes air drying on racks around his bedroom (my mother placed them in strategic places) and he liked the how soft clothes get when dried in a dryer (though he will never admit to that).

Hi. Having replaced our dryer in January, it was 40 years old, I would tell your father that the newer dryers use about half the energy as an older dryer. It is also cheaper to replace than attempt to repair.

*Just be sure and clean out the vent hose before putting in the new dryer.

Dryers, especially older ones, can be pretty easy to repair. You can find tutorials on-line.

If I had to guess, your problem sounds like you may need to replace a drum support roller, and if so, it's not hard to do in most cases. If it's not something you think you can do yourself, maybe just a handyman or handy neighbor can take a look.

I did that same repair on mine a couple years ago. It took an hour, and $26 dollars in parts online after reviewing a video.

But then the motor failed a year later, and we had to replace it any way.

Failing the repair option, do you really need your dad's approval? Just buy a new dryer with your mom, but a bow on it, and tell dad's it's a gift.

Now for my vent for the day:

My Subaru's front differential shredded it self while I was driving the other day. I'm told it's integrated with the transmission so I need to replace the whole transmission.
The car is a 2002 with 190,000 but it's otherwise in really good condition, and I've put a lot into it in recent years, including new catalytic converter and partial engine rebuild.
I love this car and certainly can't afford a new one like it right now.
I have to choose between $1700 for a used transmssion (from a junk yard! who knows what condition it's really in?!) or a Subaru rebuilt for $4000 (I don't have $4000!) or just give up on my baby and hope to find a reliable used car I can afford. (Waahh! Noooo!).
And this just as I was about to finally pay off the Amex card!

My father's pretty handy (he's an electrician), but with the Family Thing going on he has a lot on his mind.

My mother has her mind set on a new dryer, now that she's looked all the new features they come with. We don't need permission as such as if he agrees his mood will be infinitely better than when we get a new one and he doesn't agree (and since I work with him I'm always the one taking the brunt of his bad moods). If all fails my mother will ask a new dryer for Mother's Day next Sunday; he can't deny it that way.
