Amazon has been generous over the years in merchandise returns. Having said that, there are many cases like Josie's mentioned on Reddit. I expect there will be many more. Amazon is huge, and is becoming heavy-handed, take today for example: http://www.slate.com/blogs/moneybox/...own_prime.html I had planned on buying a new Chromecast from Amazon, they took away that choice and lost that sale. They were recently in the news about how badly they treat their employees. And it may be that the customer loving honeymoon is over too, or soon will be. The answer? Disconnect and no longer buy anything from Amazon. I know that is not easy for some people, but as they get bigger I'm sure things will get worse with them. |

I am pretty sure that you will find < 1% of people will complain about whoever they formally worked for. How many complaints on Reddit? Amazon has 50 million customers. 1000 people could complain. All it would mean is 1000 people took advantage of a company's policy. Those are the ones that hurt the legitimate customers because the company has to change their policy to stay in business. I once heard a guy say a company stole his stuff after a hurricane. Turns out he was just trying to bully the company into giving him new stuff because he lost it before the storm.

I think it is a troubling pattern. Anyone here could have written a reasonable letter explaining Amazon had concerns about a customer returning too many items without causing such consternation. I repeat again, "Heavy-Handed", expect more of it from Amazon, my Chromecast example shows where we are headed with Amazon.

As an example, I have never seen Great Value at Albertsons or Everyday Essentials at Walmart.

When Amazon decided to Make their own streaming device. They Removed ALL their streaming from other Devices. Which Means IF like me you buy Amazon Movies you have to buy Amazon device to Watch those movies I pray every day when I want to use my Prime or watch a movie I Paid for my Old Sony Blu-Ray play don't break down! So far 2 or the 3 still work. Since that has happened I stopped buying Amazons Streaming movies. But still sucks that I cant enjoy watching those I already own. Streaming was suppose to be so much better Not having to clutter your living space with tons of movies. Whats so great when they change the rules? Now I have to Re-Buy Everything AGAIN! |

Nope. Roku's have it, XBox, Playstation, & Wii. Some Blu-Ray players & smart TV models have had it in the past (up to 2014 models) and newer models still may get it depending on manufacturers and what they want on their devices (although with the Roku smart TV's you can get it on the 2015 models too). If it was removed from any models of Blu-Ray player that already had it it may be dependent on the manufacturer as my Panasonic's still have it.

According to their compatible device list there are also 2014 models that have it. Also, who says it's Amazon that took it off new devices? I know Netflix has payed some manufacturers in the past to be the only all you can eat streaming service on a device. Some BR 2014 models with Amazon Video... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ICDAAX4 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HPMCO4Q http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HPMCO14 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HPMCO6O Last edited by AnemicOak; 10-01-2015 at 11:01 PM.

BTW I been Banned from buying Blu-rays that have the Amazon Logo on them for streaming since to date I have purchased & returned TEN! Just to find 1 that does what I need! Sony's 2015 line of 3D/Bluray players also include Amazon Video, like the BDP-S5500, which is what I'm going to buy if and when my S5100 ever dies. I fully expect new year's line to include Amazon as well. Quote:
You've bought and returned 10 bluray players or bluray disks? What exactly do you need whichever it is to do? Maybe you're just looking at wrong models? Last edited by Ripplinger; 10-01-2015 at 11:21 PM.

Did you let it update as AnemicOak said after first plugging it in? I've read that some apps don't get added until that step because of certain apps not being available for certain countries. So they don't want to install the app, have you try to play somewhere it's not available and complain, so it's not added until the initial updating step. Edit: I've scoured a few video forums that I frequent (especially when needing help! ), and they make mention of the S5500 playing Amazon Video, even talking about the performance while using Amazon Video. There was some question if Amazon's 1080/p24 HD streaming would work on the S5500, but I haven't found a definitive answer to that one yet. It seems quite a few players won't stream it, including the HD from Netflix. Edit 2: Yes, confirmed that 1080/p24 is working for Amazon Video on the S5500.
