I read The Bone Clocks, some time ago. I have it rated three stars in Calibre, which means I didn't hate it, but that it isn't a guaranteed reread.

Frankly, I can't remember a thing about it, so I look forward to your take on it.

Is Jim Butcher turning into George R.R. Martin? No new book in sight? Oh well I figured I might as well read Skin Game, since I bought it who knows how long ago. Good so far.

Upcoming Works

We’re frequently asked about when to expect new work from Jim. No, we don’t have a release date for Peace Talks yet.

As of November 2017: Jim is back to writing Peace Talks, now that Brief Cases * is out the door! We’re still quite a ways from having a release date, but we’ll announce any updates in the news blog.

* You can snag a copy of this coveted compilation on JUNE 5TH, 2018!
Don't give up guys!

Last fall I read the first book in Patricia Wrede's "Enchanted Forest Chronicles," "Dealing with Dragons." I enjoyed it quite a bit, so I got the other 3 books in the series. I read through the second two last month, and today I finished #4, "Talking to Dragons." I liked it, and the series as a whole is a fun and breezy read. Now to figure out what next to read from the books I got over the holidays...

I'm currently reading the first of Robert J. Sawyer's WWW trilogy, Wake, downloaded from my local BC Public Library. Even though Mr. Sawyer is a member here, a Canadian, and an SF writer, I'd still somehow never managed to run across any of his books. Wake is somewhat simplistic and certainly YA, but I found myself being captivated and finding excuses to snatch a few more moments to read it. I'll definitely be reading the rest of the trilogy, and looking for more from him. Recommended.

I dropped it. It was so heteronormative/stereotypically gendered that it killed what might have been an interesting fantasy story. The 15-year-old runaway, the annoying Cambridge boy - they were just annoying caricatures that were in no way interesting to me.

Instead, I started and finished Alan Bradley's most recent Flavia de Luce novel, The Grave's a Fine and Private Place.

Just finished The Adventures of English by Melvyn Bragg and it was an excellent history of the English language. Much more detailed than other books I’ve read on the subject (e.g., The Mother Tounge by Bill Bryson). It focuses mostly on Britain but does devote a couple of chapters to the US and one each on India, the West Indies and Australia.

Only thing he got wrong was failing to point out how much better we speak English here in the US than the Brits do.

Aw, I didn’t think you’d fall for that one. Shoot.

Next up Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker. Non fiction on unlocking the power of sleep and dreams

Finished, and I definitely will be reading the rest of the trilogy. But first, I need to read the latest Vatta book from Elizabeth Moon, Into the Fire, which showed up on my Kindle late Monday night on a pre-order. Already well into it, and enjoying it so far. But my goodness Ky Vatta does manage to get herself into trouble!

I saw it was out and immediately set a hold on it at the library.

And most enjoyable it was too. But I hadn't realised the trilogy is unfinished. Perhaps it is a little too busy with mysterious magic and spirits. Every time you think you've got to the end of the revelations, another mysterious thing happens.

Next up: Neogenesis by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller

(And I'm still reading the Analog)

Thanks for the recommendation, MickeyC. I had seen few episodes of this British television series of the same name based on this book a few years back, and found that interesting. I didn't care to read the book later but I've added this book now to my wish list, and I'll go for it soon.
