I think we need to admit the obvious now and get Rooney off the pitch. He's not just poor, he's a liability - every time he gets the ball he gives it away. Passing the ball to Rooney is effectively exactly the same as passing it to a Uruguayan player!

Someone must have cursed Rooney or something, that one at the crossbar in the first half, now this shot in front of the goal. Weird how he can't score. The commentator said he never scored in 10 World Cup games... is it true?

I think we'll get what we deserve. Not good enough really. If you choose to leave Rooney on the pitch for 90 minutes then you deserve nothing.

England is not yet out. If Italy beats Costa Rica and Uruguay, and if England beats Costa Rica, they will all be tied at 3 points (all except Italy, of course).
