It certainly would! They really need to go for it in the second half. Even a draw wouldn't be much use to them, they have to win.

Let's say a tie. Spain would need a goal differential of at least 6 in the final two group games (in their favour as well) to draw straws with Chile. Not likely. Chile loses by three to Netherlands and Spain wins by three over Australia. Possible, but not likely.

Spain holding much of play in the second half, but no finishing. Almost 60% of possession and almost twice the completed passes. Leaving one to believe the criticisms of tika-taka and how it builds a team of midfielders.

Today's craziness:

Colombia - Cote Ivoire
The coast looked good in the first game, but this is a different level of opposition. I expect this to be close, but it is Colombia.
Colombia 2 - 1

Uruguay - England
Uruguay in a must-win and they do.
Uruguay 2 - 0

Japan - Greece
After looking like a team that shouldn't be here Greece becomes a team that isn't here.
Japan 1 - 0

I don't like Capello because he is the epitome of a manager that puts his teams playing negative football. Never going to attack unless it is strictly necessary, and only until doing the minimum possible to win a game. A 1-0 is a "great" result no matter what, and defending all the time is ok, even if you are a world champion as long as you got that precious goal. Even if that goal comes from the only attacking play in the whole 90 minutes. It is italian football 80's style all over again! I refuse to accept that.
