Just installed Kindle PC reader 1.26.0. Now what ?
I am tired of reading my books on cloud reader and decided to download and install Kindle reader and it came as V1.26.0

As expected Calibre DRM removal plug in gives an error.
Is there a fix for the new version downloaded books or any work-arounds ?

Apologize in advance if this was answered elsewhere in this thread but my few searches before registering did not find anything relevant.

Books cannot currently be imported into calibre from Kindle for PC 1.25 or later. See the thread Dealing with Kindle for PC/Mac 1.19 (and later) and KFX in calibre for workarounds.

Hello, I have kindle paperwhite with firmware version 5.11.1 so I can't remove DRM protection from books imported to Kindle.

Is any trick I can do to download books from Kindle Unlimited? Installing a kindle reader for pc may work?

Kindle Unlimited is a lending service. Authors are paid based on page reads within a Kindle app or device. I do not support DRM removal for those books.

@jhowell - The following was a freebie for me, but isn't one now. It refused to convert from KFX to EPUB or MOBI. No doubt another font issue. The Sample ebook might be all you need for checking etc, but please let me know if you need more.

That book uses a new KFX feature that is not fully supported by the current release of the KFX Input plugin. If you set the option "Allow conversion to complete even if errors are detected" in the KFX Input tab of the conversion dialog then this particular book will convert correctly despite the error message.

This will be fixed in the next release of the plugin. Thanks for the error report.

Is there a command-line option for that as well?

Also, looking at your notes at the first post, I am wondering if the Input etc parameter I have been using for conversion, is suitable for KFX files?

Currently I use the following on the command-line for ebooks obtained from Amazon.

(EPUB) --input-profile kindle --output-profile tablet
(MOBI) --input-profile kindle --output-profile kindle_pw

Apart from the couple of errors I have reported here to you, the EPUB version at least, seems quite okay in the Calibre Ebook Viewer.

To allow conversion from KFX to complete when non-fatal errors occur add the option
--allow-conversion-with-errors to your ebook-convert command line.
