I wouldn't go that far...many people with those shipping dates have, from what I can tell, either received their Cybook or it's in shipping right now. It's more probable that at the time of making that update, Bookeen believed to their best of their knowledge that they'd be able to receive sufficient additional units. We don't know what kind of projections they were working with from *their* supplier.

While I don't think that their customer support/timeliness in informing their customers has been everything that could have been, I also think that they're a relatively small company that's in large part depending on another companies ability to manufacture and supply and sometimes things are out of their control. The fact that Amazon is experiencing the exact same delay is probably pretty telling.

I suggest anybody who ordered while that notice was still up contact them and find out where their order is in process and how much longer it will be. And at that point decide if it's worth the wait or if it'd just be better off to cancel their order.

Must be nice to have the money... That's the only problem I have with the iLiad - the price! For the price of one iLiad, I can afford to buy one NAEB-special-package Cybook Gen3 and about 50 ebooks from Fictionwise/Mobipocket.

We are able to purchase and download Mobi format ebooks, with or without DRM, to our Mac computers for transfer at some point in time to the Cybook Gen 3, i.e., the Cybook does not need to be connected to the Mac for such orders and downloads from the vendor.

NAEB has not begun its bulk ordering process yet, so I have not been able to acquire a Cybook Gen 3 to be able to personally test any of this.

The only thing that wasn't mentioned is that you will need to register your mobi device and for that one time task you will need a windows machine I have been led to believe.

not at all ... You just grab the PID number from the cybook to register ... All done on my mac!

I try to avoid windows machines whenever possible and my cybook makes it possible.

I registered my Cybook using a web browser (in Linux) so if I am not totaly misunderstanding this thread you do not need a windows machine.

For people that are from the Netherlands, ebookreaders has received a shipment. They unfortunately only sell in The Netherlands.

And the ppl who ordered it with the 14 till 18 december message are maybe lucky..

Last night I canceled my order and they almost instantly send me a message back that my order is canceled and that it was a close call because mine whould have been shipped today (7299 order number)

So.. they are still shipping

I ordered it at ebookreaders.nl and they will almost instantly send it to me so for me it doesn't really matters anymore.

I am Dutch, but if I ordered from ebookreaders, I would be last in line again.

I just hope Bookeen gives me some update about my order. I would feel really bad if I canceled and Bookeen would then tell me that the order was about to ship.

Yeah.. I was thinking along the same line.. but you can just email / call ebookreaders.nl and they tell you if they have cybooks in stock.

If they have them in stock they will ship it the same day if you pay directly via paypall or ideal. So that is always faster then via the bookeen.com website because they have to ship internationaly and if they send you the mail today they will ship it next day.

I contacted bookeen and asked them about my order and this was their reply;

Your order is expected to ship today (you are amongst the first ones in the list).

You will receive a tracking email notification from FedEx/Bookeen.
I'm number 701X, so they will probably send out alot of cybooks in that range today.

Their reply was fast, but I still think they have to catch up a bit on informing customers on the status of their orders.

Bookeen replied promptly to my query with much the same information: they will start shipping December orders today. That is very good news. My number is 70XX so I hope to get a tracking number today or tomorrow. Anyway, thank you to Bookeen for the quick response.
