I read Alyssa Cole's A Princess in Theory a while back based on a blog recommendation from another author I like. And I liked it, so I put Cole on my eReaderIQ author watch list. Now A Hope Divided, part of Cole's Loyal League series, has dropped to $1.99 at Kindle US, but not at Kobo US (at least as of now).

Buzzfeed’s THE ULTIMATE BUZZFEED BOOKS GIFT GUIDE
Bookish “AUTUMN’S 2017 MOST SWOON-WORTHY ROMANCE BOOKS” list

The Civil War has turned neighbor against neighbor—but for one scientist spy and her philosopher soldier, war could bind them together . . .

For all of the War Between the States, Marlie Lynch has helped the cause in peace: with coded letters about anti-Rebel uprisings in her Carolina woods, tisanes and poultices for Union prisoners, and silent aid to fleeing slave and Freeman alike. Her formerly enslaved mother’s traditions and the name of a white father she never knew have protected her—until the vicious Confederate Home Guard claims Marlie’s home for their new base of operations in the guerilla war against Southern resistors of the Rebel cause.

Unbeknowst to those under her roof, escaped prisoner Ewan McCall is sheltering in her laboratory. Seemingly a quiet philosopher, Ewan has his own history with the cruel captain of the Home Guard, and a thoughtful but unbending strength Marlie finds irresistible.

When the revelation of a stunning family secret places Marlie’s freedom on the line, she and Ewan have to run for their lives into the hostile Carolina night. Following the path of the Underground Railroad, they find themselves caught up in a vicious battle that could dash their hopes of love—and freedom—before they ever cross state lines.

Protect the Prince is the second in Jennifer Estep's now completed three-book Crown of Shards series. It has dropped to $2.99 at Kindle and Kobo US. I really liked this series...

USA TODAY Bestseller!

Magic, murder, adventure, and romance combine in this second novel in the exciting Crown of Shards saga from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jennifer Estep.

Everleigh Blair might be the new gladiator queen of Bellona, but her problems are far from over.

First, Evie has to deal with a court full of arrogant, demanding nobles, all of whom want to get their greedy hands on her crown. As if that wasn’t bad enough, an assassin tries to kill Evie in her own throne room.

Despite the dangers, Evie goes ahead with a scheduled trip to the neighboring kingdom of Andvari in order to secure a desperately needed alliance. But complicating matters is the stubborn Andvarian king, who wants to punish Evie for the deaths of his countrymen during the Seven Spire massacre.

Dark forces are also at work inside the Andvarian palace, and Evie soon realizes that no one is safe. Worse, her immunity to magic starts acting in strange, unexpected ways, which makes Evie wonder whether she is truly strong enough to be a Winter Queen.

Evie’s magic, life, and crown aren’t the only things in danger—so is her heart, thanks to Lucas Sullivan, the Andvarian king’s bastard son and Evie’s … well, Evie isn’t quite sure what Sullivan is to her.

Only one thing is certain—protecting a prince might be even harder than killing a queen…

Burn for Me is the first in the Hidden Legacy series by Ilona Andrews. It has dropped to £0.99 at Kindle UK.

#1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews launches a brand-new Hidden Legacy series, in which one woman must place her trust in a seductive, dangerous man who sets off an even more dangerous desire . . .

Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile situation. Nevada isn't sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.

Then she's kidnapped by Connor "Mad" Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run and wanting to surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.

Rogan's after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she's getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world.

If you like this series, three of the other four full-length books in the series are currently at £2.99 each, including the latest, Emerald Blaze, which just came out week. These are much better than the prices in the US right now. To get non-Smile links, just replace the "smile" in the URL with "www".

For those who liked Jessie Mihalik's Consortium trilogy and/or liked the first two books in her Rogue Queen series, she had been saying on her blog for a while now that she would serialize the third title in that series, The Queen's Triumph, once she was far enough along.

And apparently that is now ! When I looked at her website this morning, Chapter 1 is up. So, if you are okay with serialized reading, you can go for it: https://www.jessiemihalik.com/blog/t...mph-chapter-1/

Or, if you'd rather wait for the final edited version, Mihalik helpfully points out that it's available for pre-sale at all of the usual places, with a publish date of Dec 8. It's priced at $3.99 at the two I checked. (It will probably be VIP-eligible at Kobo, like the first two in the series, which would provide a small discount if you wait until it's out to buy...)

The second novella, The Queen's Advantage, she added around 10k words during edits. There were also additions to The Queen Gambit, but not nearly as many. I imagine this one will also have light edits when it's published.

This series follows the same two main characters so you probably will want to read them in order. But it is a fun series, so why wouldn't you?

I enjoyed the Consortium trilogy but haven't tackled the Rogue Queen series. The Consortium trilogy made for good reading when the pandemic started and I was having problems focusing when reading. It was something different from my usual reads.

This has a Disney movie roughly on it. If you like books that inspired movies. I've never read the book, but have seen the movie.

I've enjoyed a couple of books in Susannah Nix's Chemistry Lessons series. Full disclosure: I'm an engineer by training, so I like geek romances...

Now the first title, Remedial Rocket Science, is free at both Kindle US and UK. There was an omnibus of the first three titles in this series for sale cheap a while back, so normally I'd say to check carefully before you buy. But in this case, free is free , so you can get it even if you just want it as a stand-alone, rather than in a bundle.

Opposites attract when a computer geek meets billionaire bad boy.

The last thing Melody expects when she accepts a dream job offer is to run into her college one-night stand again. Not only does the hunky blast from her past work at the same aerospace company where she's just started in the IT department, he's the CEO's son.

Jeremy's got a girlfriend and a reputation as a bad boy, so Melody resolves to keep her distance and focus on building a new life for herself in Los Angeles. But despite her good intentions, she can't seem to stay away from the heavenly-smelling paragon of hotness.

As the two begin to forge an unlikely friendship, Melody's attraction to Jeremy grows deeper than she's ready to admit. Can the woman who always plays it safe take a risk on the man who's all wrong for her in all the right ways?

This slow-burn romance is the first in a series of standalone rom-coms featuring heroines who work in STEM fields.

It's actually coming up as only $2.51 at Google Play.

According to her author newsletter the sale goes until September 8th.

FWIW, I enjoyed this one even more than the first book in the trilogy.

Chaos Reigning
I paid full price for all three books in this series on their release days and do not regret it. But IMO the trilogy does need to be read in order for maximum enjoyment.

I do hope she's able to write the second trilogy she has planned at some point in the future. But the main story arc in this trilogy does have a satisfying conclusion so it doesn't end on a cliffhanger or anything,

Also if you think you won't like space opera, this is basically a Regency house party, fake boyfriend, only one bed trope-fest..it just happens to be set in space
