Shannon Stacey 72 Hours (Devlin Group #1) is free.

Spoiler:
From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shannon Stacey.

Grace Nolan walked away from the Devlin Group carrying Alex Rossi’s child in her womb and his bullet in her shoulder. But a ghost from the past has kidnapped her son, Danny. The ransom—Alex Rossi. To get her son back, Grace will have to step back into the life she’d left behind and reveal her secret to Alex…

With vengeance for his mother’s murder nearly at hand and a deadly substance on the loose, the last thing Alex Rossi needs is to find himself at the business end of Grace’s gun. Now the clock is ticking as they race to save a child and stop a madman bent on destruction.

But Alex has a secret of his own, and it may be the ultimate betrayal.

It's been a long time since I read it and IIRC I had some issues with the main characters in this book, but I love the series overall.

For a long time, Mary Stewart titles were mostly non-existent and/or very expensive in the US, but now there seem to be a lot of them available for reasonable prices. Right now, there are three titles (including my most favorite) that have dropped to $0.99 at Kindle and Kobo US, and a bunch of others in the $1.99 to $2.99 range.

Mary Stewart was one of my earliest favorite authors, so I got a bunch of her e-books one time while on a business trip to the UK, where they've been much more available for a long time. I'm never quite sure whether to call her books romantic suspense (and post in mysteries/thrillers), or to call them suspenseful romance (and post them here), but in the end, this time, I went with suspenseful romance , and will cross post to mysteries.

Madam, Will You Talk (my favorite Mary Stewart title, although I have a few other favorites that come close...)

I'll do links for the $1.99 and $2.99 titles in a bit and put them in another message.

Well, it turns out Mary Stewart is a really common name, and there are lots of books by various Mary Stewarts, including Mary Stewart Cutting, Mary Louisa Stewart Molesworth, Mary Stewart Daggett, and others. Sigh!

So I'm having trouble getting links that are clean enough to be of any good. (And I'm swamped right now, and don't have time to play with them any more...)

So, if you want to find the $1.99 and $2.99 Mary Stewart titles, just use one of the links above for the $0.99 titles, and click on the author link on the page, and then sort by ascending price....and page through the chaff...

Apologies...

OMG, I read every one of Mary Stewart's books back when I was a young teen and just getting into romance (too many years ago to count ). I've never reread because I've always been afraid they wouldn't hold up to my charmed memories, but maybe I should pick up a few.

As I recall, my favorites were The Moonspinners, My Brother Michael, and Airs Above the Ground because I was horse mad and that one was set around the Lipizzanner stallions in Austria.

I too read these a long time ago, and I too used to have the tattered paperbacks to prove it . But now I have all the ones I want in e-book, which is much nicer!

My favorites are Madam, Will You Talk?, The Moonspinners, This Rough Magic, and My Brother Michael. Although Madam, Will You Talk? is a teeny bit above the others IMO, really, on any given day, my "favorite" could be any one of these. I also like a lot of Stewart's other books, but these four are the ones I reread when I'm in need of some reliable "comfort food" for my brain.

Oh yes! Having a hard copy of these is not keeping me from buying the ebooks!

I think My Brother Michael and The Moonspinners and Touch Not the Cat are my favorites. Those are the ones I read more than once. I might need a sooner refresher on the others!

Woohoo! A book high on my wishlist is free today (free at all retailers, not just Amazon):

Man Card by Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby. This series is more comic than Sarina's sole author books and the humor might not work you, but I love it.

Spoiler:
Nothing ventured, nothing banged.

Ash
I still don’t know how it happened. One minute I was arguing with my arrogant competitor—our usual trash-talk over who deserves the larger commission. But somehow I went from throwing down to kneeling down...
It can never happen again. I don’t even like Sebastian. He's too slick. He's a manipulating mansplaining party boy in preppy clothes.
So why can't I get him out of my head?

Sebastian
There are two things I know without question. One: Ash and I are destined for each other. Two: never trust a man with a unibrow.
Ash is my missing my piece. She’s the sweet cream to my gourmet espresso. And nothing gets me going faster than her contempt for me. They don't call her the Ashkicker for nothing.
Eventually I’ll win her over…if my past doesn’t ruin everything first.

Here's a free novella from Jackie Lau. I really like her books and this is a good way to give her a try.

A Match Made For Thanksgiving

Spoiler:
Advertising executive Nick Wong enjoys living in Toronto. He loves late nights partying and taking women back to his penthouse. And so it is with great reluctance that he returns to his boring hometown of Mosquito Bay for Thanksgiving.

This year, however, is even worse than usual. His interfering parents and grandparents, frustrated with the lack of weddings in the family, have invited blind dates for him and his three siblings. Nick’s brother Greg has been set up with Lily Tseng, who just so happens to be Nick’s latest one-night stand, the one he can’t get out of his mind.

Although Nick has never been interested in settling down, Lily has him reconsidering. Perhaps he’s good for more than a single night of sex, dumplings, and bubble tea after all. But first, he has to get through this painful weekend with his family and convince her that she should be with him, not Greg…

A couple of weeks ago several Mary Stewart titles dropped in price in the US, with three as low as $0.99. That prompted some discussion, and multiple folks (me included ) mentioned The Moon-Spinners as one of their favorite Stewart titles. And now The Moon-Spinners has dropped to $0.99 at Kindle US as part of the Daily Deal, matched at Kobo US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Moon-Spinners...dp/B00GVFUDQO/
Kindle US/Smile: https://smile.amazon.com/Moon-Spinne...dp/B00GVFUDQO/
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/the-moon-spinners

Spoiler:
Quote:
Transport yourself to the idyllic hills of mid-century Crete in this tale of peril and intrigue, from the original queen of romantic suspense and author of Madam, Will You Talk?

'Mary Stewart is magic' New York Times

'One of the great British storytellers of the 20th century' Independent

While on a walking holiday through the beautiful, deserted hills of Crete, Nicola Ferris stumbles across a critically injured Englishman, guarded by a fierce Greek. Nicola cannot abandon them and so sets off on a perilous search for their lost companion - all the while being pursued by someone who wants to make sure none of them leave the island . . .

When the big white bird flew suddenly up among the glossy leaves and the lemon flowers, and wheeled into the mountain, I followed it.

'A comfortable chair and a Mary Stewart: total heaven. I'd rather read her than most other authors.' Harriet Evans

'She built the bridge between classic literature and modern popular fiction. She did it first and she did it best.' Herald

And in what is probably a pricing boo-boo, my all-time favorite, Madam, Will You Talk?, is still $0.99 at Kindle US only, although the others previously on sale (and Madam at Kobo US) before have gone back up to $3.99: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00GW4P044
