Doing some Calibre maintenance is a good way to remind yourself that you already have quite a few books. I like it. Of course, it's just as likely to remind me that I'm missing a book in a series that I should get.

Both true! But for me seeing the 762 (+35 on their way) purchased and unread books in my calibre library outweighs the series I spot that might have a new book out.

Well, THAT didn't last long. I got decent deals on two of the seven at Kobo, only to find that they had DRM there whereas the Diesel versions don't. I softened the Diesel blow a little by buying all but one of the remaining five at once, to get some reward money that I then applied to the final book. Still wound up paying less than $3 each on average, which ain't bad for books i know are good.

The annoying part is the formatting; for some reason, all seven books are set to display at 70% of normal size - TEENY type! Thankfully, the actual CSS was pretty lightweight, and it was easy enough to fix. There were some other HTML irregularities - a bad !DOCTYPE declaration, empty bold/italic tags, and one weird numbered list - but nothing huge. The right tools got everything sorted out fairly quickly.

I must admit that those are on my wish list, but I've resisted so far, as I have so many other wonderful books to read.

Under $3 for books you know you'll enjoy is a good deal. I hope you're reading the first of them now!

I've been good so far, since my kickstarter purchase. No books apart from that at all!

I've still got one 50% coupon left, but I'm resisting using it.
I will admit that the thing most helping me to resist this coupon is that the ebooks in series that I want still won't work with a coupon.

I'm not sure how many issues we actually end up with the Lightspeed Kickstarter thing. It seems that at my level, I get not only the 1 year subscription and 3 special issues but 48 back issues. Hmmm... that's a lot of reading.

Man, I should do something about that cold. Then I can get out of bed and read less...

I have ten of the back issues already, and three of the 'back issues' are actually the March, April and May 2014 issues. So that's 35 back issue books for me this February. Or 36 if I don't get them until March.

(Was it you who said that the one year subscription was the best deal? It was, and I switched to it after initially going for the four year subscription.)

I came close on today's Kindle History Deal, Waiting for Snow in Havana. I like memoirs about different cultures and this was highly rated and reviewed (in the New Yorker, even). So I applied some aversion therapy by reading two-star reviews at Goodreads and then I read a few pages of the book at Amazon. It's not a must buy, so I haven't.

Congratulations! Good techniques we could all try applying.

Mean coupon codes got me again ...i bought 5 books last night. They were all on someone in my family's wishlist/TBR but I spent $ that wasn't really in the budget. Then I look and it seems I had already purchased one of them already . At least that was the cheapest one and I used a code on them all, so the duplicate purchase only cost my less than $2 USD....this time).

Sure I saved about $49, but should not have spent the $ without a previous plan on doing so.
