Thank you!
I will have to wait a while though.
Turns out Amazon will not ship just the device anymore.
So I will be waiting until August to get my replacement device.

My walnut cover does really well in my purse, I have had it almost 2 weeks now and not one scratch. I've left it in my purse for hours and even most of the day one time a few days ago.
Other people have had issues with the walnut cover.
I think it depends on the individual cover and also which color you purchase.

My first Oasis was defective with a really bad screen. One thing I noticed on both units is that the body had slight nicks in it. Also the edges of the screen where the glass ends looks ragged on both. Hard to explain so maybe I'll try and take some pictures.

Anyone else noticing minor things like this?

Check the measurements; I'm quite certain it won't fit in these "small" or "medium" Oberon sleeves. The Oasis is 0.3" or 7mm wider than the Voyage, and that's on the smaller dimension. This Oberon sleeve just doesn't have that much slop.

A visit to Oberon's main site may show *other* products which could be repurposed to fit the Oasis, but this sleeve isn't it.

Moreover, it doesn't protect the perimeter of the device either. Top, bottom and right side. Which means, the cover won't protect it from a fall. It is only good to protect the screen from dust and scratch.

With KPW, the Amazon Cover protects the device pretty well. Mine fell on the floor twice and the device still worked and didn't have any scratch. With Oasis, I have to be very careful not to let it drop out of my hands.

I cancelled my order for the Oasis with the merlot cover. Have reordered itmwith the black cover. It will ship June 1, which is much better than August 15. 😁

Most books I read these days are 800+ pages and if I spend most of Sunday reading, my pw1 needs charging on Monday as the battery bar is really thin. But pw1 charges up super fast. It's 100% within like 20 minutes.

Thanks.
The battery life feels much like the PW1 for me, perhaps a little longer: I'm discharging the internal battery about once every day and a half, and recharging the whole thing more or less weekly. Given the higher resolution of the screen and the extra power needed to drive it, that's pretty impressive. Given that battery tech hadn't done anything magical since the PW1 came out, Amazon's claims of months of battery life were always laughable.

Now when the things in the lab now for batteries with massive nanostructured surface area that charge in seconds, and batteries with gloop on them that let them charge hundreds of thousands of times without degradation come out, *that* will be a change -- but still, I don't expect to see actual months of battery life from a Kindle even then. That would be an order of magnitude higher energy density and in the end you have to consider that you're carrying what is basically a bomb around. I see nothing in the rumblings from the battery tech world that suggests that any such jump is even on the horizon. So we'll still have charge-it-every-week but it might charge in a minute and a half and charge from its cover in ten seconds or something. the limiting factor then becomes the amount of power the thing can pull out of a domestic power supply without blowing a fuse!

(The internal battery capacity doesn't really factor into this because when you charge that up you're not tethered to anything, and it takes so little time that it happens when you're walking somewhere or making lunch: spend half an hour on something, including reading, and oh it's charged again.)

I find that my Voyage more than meets Amazon's stated battery life of 6 weeks of use at 30m a day (=6 x 7 / 2 = 21h). I read for an average of around 3h a day and charge my Voyage considerably less often than once a week.

Amazon claim a battery life of 28h (8 weeks at 30m/day) for the Oasis. Do you think you're getting less than that from it?

The estimated time is also with the wifi off and the light set I think in about the middle.

I seem to be hanging around about 22h at the moment, but since I get at least 10MiB of new ebooks that need indexing every week, automatically, and since I read fast and turn pages correspondingly rapidly, this is not terribly surprising. It certainly doesn't tie me to a power point, but it does mean that if I'm going away somewhere I do still need to take the power adapter, which Amazon's marketing implies is not true. (Maybe it isn't, if you hardly read at all, but as others have noted here, if you hardly read at all you're not going to be in the market for an Oasis unless you are stinking rich.)

You say you get about 10MB of books automatically - does that mean that you keep WiFi turned on? That's a huge hit on battery life.

Nah, I know when they're turning up and flip wifi on in the morning when I know they'll arrive, then flip it off once they turn up. It's only on for a few seconds. I was *so* glad when they made the wifi-off setting easy to get to again. (Now if only they could change that ridiculous name... it has nothing at all to do with aircraft.)

There is a good reason for airplane mode.
It saves flight attendants many headaches.

Yeah, if you privilege use on aircraft over every other use of a device, that makes sense. As someone who hardly ever flies, this seems as sensible to me as calling it 'hospital mode' or for that matter 'submarine mode' or 'MRI scanner mode'. Those are just environments in which wifi is contraindicated, is all.
