@dtrhino: Hmmm. That's annoying.
Sure it's G090KB and not G090JB? In any case, besides that inconsistency (for me, anyway ;p), we don't have an initial FW for the white PW3 (that would be FW 5.7.3.1, according to my notes), and given the fact that the procedure for the black PW3 has proven the most quirky to date, I'd hold off on that for now... Even then, currently, nothing supports the white PW3 (part of that stems from that first inconsistency I mentioned, which would break my understanding of the logic behind device codes ;'(). @Wooks : What @knc1 said, you're good to go ![]() |

@NiLuJe: If the 'hotfix' is being deleted on a White PW-3 - -
Then it is too late, he has downgraded and run the JB. Ah, dtrhino inspired the "If you don't find your Kindle in the model table: STOP" Part of the directions. But once the model number thing is answered, could you at least re-pack the 'hotfix' so he can move on to re-installing firmware intended for his device. ![]() Hey - It hasn't blown up (yet) - so let him test the rest of the procedure for us. He just showed us that a White PW-3 will run the firmware of a Slate PW-3. The Slate PW-3 problems have all been about how Amazon re-thought some of the file formats during the production run. Your observation about 'must use reset' has fixed those complaints. Last edited by knc1; 07-06-2016 at 01:39 PM. |

@knc1: Ooops, I missed the part about the downgrade having been already successfully done.
In that case, yeah, I'd just like a confirmation of the serial (for my sanity), but if it turns out to indeed be KB, it's going to take a while to support, because that breaks a crapload of assumptions I've been relying on... |

@knc1 I can go back to 5.8.1 without issues, in fact, I've already gone back to that version and downgraded again without any issues before I initially posted here, I just chose to remain downgraded for now. The ;installHtml goes fine, the kindle reboots and loads something, but I don't know how to check if the key mentioned in the post is actually being created. Do any of you want me to test anything in particular? Edit: Added picture for proof, to keep NiLuJe's sanity Last edited by dtrhino; 07-07-2016 at 12:11 AM. Reason: adding attachement |

@dtrhino: Arggh. Thanks! I'll try to take care of it tonight
![]() Just to triple-check: That's WiFi only, right? (That, at least, appears to be consistent with my expectations, phew! ![]() And, no, no need to try anything, what you're experiencing is perfectly normal, nothing you can really do (for now) on your end ![]() |

Yes, this is the wifi only model, though I felt tempted to tell you otherwise for shits and giggles

@dtrhino: On the off-chance something magical happened, could you PM me the *full* S/N?
Anyway, I've just mangled KindleTool to deal with that for now, but I haven't updated everything else yet. (And it requires an updated build of KindleTool for MRPI, which I'll launch overnight anyways). |

Hi, I'm trying to get USBNetworking to work between my PW and my Mac.
I enabled USBNetwork sucessfully (usbnet, sshd up), but I've got some trouble connecting to it, following this. First I've noticed that my device doesn't show up as usb0, but as en4. I've assigned it an ip (is this correct?) through "sudo ifconfig en4 192.168.2.1" and tried to connect through: ssh 192.168.2.1 and ssh 192.168.2.2, but with no success. |

@masteranza: Third-party documentation is potentially evil (mostly it's outdated, which is actually worse, but, still ;p).
I have a post somewhere with shiny OS X screenshots of everything, lemme dig that up. EDIT: there. Note the caveat about the IPs, since I'm using a custom config (which, incidentally, seems to be your very exact issue: you're using the wrong IPs for the default config ![]() When in doubt, check the bundled README_FIRST doc in the USBNet package. There may even be a link to a thread with OS-specific info in it. Last edited by NiLuJe; 07-09-2016 at 09:13 AM. |

Hello!
I've jailbroken my new PW3 (G090G1, 5.7.4) Installed KUAL, Explorer, Leafpad, Kterm, Gargoyle without any issues I tried installing Usbnetwork, using the file 'Update_usbnet_0.21.N_install_pw2_kt2_kv_pw3.bin' from the package 'kindle-usbnet-0.21.N.zip' After disconnecting USB cable, I find the 'update your kindle' option in settings, greyed out The file is also missing when I connect to PC and check again Any way out?
