Hello i jailbreaked my pw3, installed kual, mrpi and usbnet.
I can login as root in a shell via usb cable (no password)
I now i'm trying to login as root via wifi (putty in windows)

I get "Welcome to kindle!" message but i don't find the root password: i tried "mario" and the two generated by https://www.sven.de/kindle/ but nothing!
I also tried empty password with no luck

My firmware is 5.7.4
How to find password for ssh via wifi?
Can i set it by the root shell via usb?

The online password generator only supports kindles before the PW3.

You can use kindletool to tell you the root password (just like at that online link you provided), but kindletool also supports PW3 and newer kindles (which use different digits of the serial md5sum). If you use windows, I suggest downloading the MinGW (command line) version here:

The root account is locked. No amount of password guessing will help you .

The recommend procedure is setting up shared key auth.

AND IT WILL BE OVERWRITTEN BY THE NEXT UPDATE!

As posted above, set-up public key auth - that is done in user storage so that it will not disappear with Amazon updates.

Also, the WiFi environment is too hostile to rely on a simple password, use pub key auth.

Hi, I have a PW2, it was jailbroken with the hotfix from https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...postcount=1597
Everything was working great, until today it self updated to 5.7.4 and I cant see KUAL and dont want to touch anything without further instructions.
What should I do?

Re-boot.
If that doesn't fix it - try re-install the hotfix package again.

(On a semi-wild guess: Russia or Brazil?)

(But, yes, as @knc1 said, you're not doing anything wrong, it's simply that this specific variant of PW3 was still flagged as unidentified. Good news: that was the last one. From this PW3 generation, at least.).
