It shouldn't have, not to that extent, which makes me think something went wrong along the way, or there's an extra PEBCAK we're missing...
But, nonetheless, factory resetting a jailbroken device is a terrible idea unless you have a very, very, very specific need for it, and know what it entails. |

At one time, it seemed we needed a big red flashing:
"Be sure to recharge the battery." Maybe we now need a similar: "Never select '(factory) Reset' on the settings menu." (Even though it is right next to 'Restart' - DO NOT let your finger wander on to it!) en_IBM: Think! The factory settings do not include anything you got from this site. So returning to the factory settings is a: very bad idea (tm) for the health of your Mobileread additions. Last edited by knc1; 03-16-2016 at 10:30 AM. |

Entirely normal operation.
You just erased the developer keys (including the MKK keys). You did not lose the device jailbreak (only the Kindlet jailbreak - which you can re-install). Note: You had better trim that image down to size before a moderator can find your GPS coords and nuke you in your sleep. Last edited by knc1; 03-20-2016 at 12:23 AM. |

Hello everyone,
I have a Kindle Paperwhite 1 (2013) with firmware 5.6.1.1 which never has been jailbroken before. I want to do it now, but from what I've read this is the latest version for PW1 and I can't downgrade. On the other hand I don't know whether 5.6.5 is compatible with my device. I'm a little bit confused. What should I do now and which Jailbreak to use? Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

The only way to downgrade is by using the serial port. There is a sticky thread on that subject (for any model, just use the correct Amazon firmware version for the device). |

Erm, isn't the PW1 the only device that can still be downgraded from it's build of fw 5.6.x? Via "force reboot before unmount from PC" just like the last fw 5.4.x that started with deleting of bin files?

Your correct, that model/firmware version is a special exception that I forgot about. [*] There is a 'HowTo' thread here on the subject. [*] I'm human, I forget a lot of things, the others I just get wrong. |

Thank you for your quick responses shamanNS, knc1!
I'll try it later. I'm really glad that the serial port method isn't my only option. |

Hi. I've been going up and down this thread but could not seem to find the solution to my problem. I had a Kindle Paperwhite (6th generation) with the latest jailbreak on it. And then I bought a book on Amazon this morning and when I checked my Kindle a few minutes ago, it had automatically updated to 5.7.3! My covers hack seems to be gone so i'm guessing so is the jailbreak? What do i do get it all back? Thanks in advance for the help.

Just re-install the covers hack (and anything else you had installed).
Amazon image updates do harm to the non-Amazon software. PS: We do not use the Amazon Marketing names here (they can change at any moment). You have a PW-2 in our terms. See: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kindle_Serial_Numbers |

Thanks a Lot!
We need all the context we can get when trying to answer questions here. There have been about 60 Kindle models that we know of, running almost 200 different firmware versions. That '200' is from memory, but it can be read as: "an awful lot". Last edited by knc1; 03-22-2016 at 10:16 PM. |

El kindle paperwhite 2 versión 5.7.3 tiene fuga de carcel y se puede hacer jailbreak. O duokan, no sé expertos.
