I don't think the image is showing that. To me it looks like the image shows that images are not inverted when reading using dark mode?

Reddit users have reported dark mode does not work on the device outside of reading a book, so now Amazon has added this on the colorsoft page. It apparently cannot work with the menu or the library or browsing the device, only when you open a book.

Basically they removed the dark mode toggle in the menu and added a “page color” mode similar to the one of the Kindle mobile apps. Currently only two page colors are supported, white and black.

It seems that the page color can be set within themes, so I guess that’s one redeeming factor. Also I believe that search results, dictionary entries, etc. thankfully all appear in the selected page color. But all menus, library view, store, etc. are displayed in white, regardless of the selected page color.

Yes, you’re right; just saw this unboxing video and the yellow band is clearly visible even before the update is installed (can be seen from around 6:15 in the video).

Edit: a user comment on this video speculates that the yellow band is “screen glue setting and drying”, with other commenters confirming the issue got better after a few days on their unit. So yeah, as you said, we just have to wait and see

So what is happening to images while reading in Dark Mode? Images are inverted, they aren't inverted, they are only 2 colors, ...?

I've had mine since Thursday. The issue isn't any better. People come up with all kinds of things to explain their perception that it gets better...

Unless Amazon went for their own front light design with individual control for each LED needing 24 pins, eInk’s stock panels have Warm +/- and Cool +/- connections using 4 pins making it unlikely that a software fix would help much.

Same here. The yellow isn't that bad to my eyes but it hasn't changed since Friday.
