No luck using Calibre to create a KFX or AZW3 file - I get errors each time. It could be me.

I am not an expert but created a KPF and tried to copy using Finder (I'm on a Mac) and had no luck - it could be me.

I was able to find a book that would not show the cover when first transferred but upon converting to KFX all was well.

When using "Send To Kindle" the PDF works on the Colorsoft (it's in color). It's not too bad, it makes me think when they create a Colorscribe it might work.

According to Android Authority (https://www.androidauthority.com/202...ading-3494778/), Amazon has stated officially that D&T won't work on any of the 2024 devices. The quotation appears below. I could not find the source of the quote directly.

Viz:

Customers can connect their new Kindle devices to a computer to transfer files. On Windows, it’ll appear as Kindle in File Explorer. On Mac, customers with the new 2024 devices will need to install additional software (e.g., Android File Transfer or OpenMTP). Customers can still transfer books and documents from their computer via USB or use the Send-to-Kindle service. They can no longer use My Content & Devices to download and transfer books to the new 2024 devices via USB. Content available in My Content & Devices is visible on the device in their Kindle library.

For those wondering about the dreaded yellow at the bottom of the Colorsoft screen it appears that Amazon is delaying delivery of the Colorsoft. It went from two days to an extra 10 days. Rumor has it that it is to create a software fix. Time will tell.

I agree. On the one I've been playing with it's not terrible but I handed my unit to a young person with better eyes, who was not up on the controversy, and asked what they thought of the screen. They immediately hit on the yellow at the bottom of the screen.

What is the file type (file name extension) of the file on the Colorsoft that was sent as a PDF? (amazon probably converts the file to something else.)

Yeah it's now gone from 3 yesterday to 2.5 today, it's dropping a half star rating every day in a row the past few

Another issue seems to be the dark mode fans. Apparently you can dark mode a book you are reading but it does not apply to the menu and library. I don't read in Dark mode so this would not bother me but there are a lot of dark mode fans

The difference is that dark code could be easily implemented in a software patch. The lighting issues? Maybe not.

Interestingly I’ve read a few comments saying that the “yellow band” at the bottom of the screen appeared after the mandatory software update during setup; if that’s the case then it really might be a software issue, e.g. a last minute tweak to the calibration of the LEDs in the day one software update which was not properly tested.

If that’s true then paradoxically the lighting issue could actually be fixed, while the dark mode might never be implemented - Amazon might be content to only support the “page color” mode.
