Booxtor mentioned in 2015 that Max 2 should sport dual core chip but in 2017 Booxtor mentioned quad core so I think Onyx is just happy with with what they got and will experiment and wait another year.
In 2015 mentioned Max 2 will be released 6 months after Max 1.
In 2016 mentioned Max 2 will be released this summer.
In 2017 mentioned Max 2 might be released next year...

The speed with quad core, more RAM and new OS is HUGE:

They seem to experience significant difficulties with the eraser function when in note taking mode. Check out the 5:00 mark and again towards the end of the video at about the 13:23 mark.

I have never experienced much difficulty using the eraser function on my Max. Is it really all that different on the Max Carta or do they have a faulty device? Very strange.

The 'review' from goodereader is completely biased. I suspect they wanted to promote they own 'great' 13.3 inch reader.

I owned MAX CARTA. IMHO, their reviews are not biased. Indeed, hand writing is good but the eraser function doesn't work quite well. It is not responsive at all by 2017 tablet standard. I want to smash it on the ground once.

If you are liberal, whatever comes from conservative's mouth is biased. Vice versa.

More or less relevant - I checked recently the specs of the goodereader tablet, and they looked pretty much identical to those of the MaxCarta...

The T68, the i86 and the MaxCarta are all based on the i.MX6SoloLite.
Mind you: (I am not an expert, but) the Cortex-A9 is a performant microarchitecture, not a power conservative one, but the i.MX6SoloLite is VERY power efficient (I checked the official documents testing power consumption of the i.MX6 models). So, it looks pretty much justified for devices intended to consume little battery.

I have Max Carta,before this device N96ML. Why downloading millions apps from Play Store? when only one, Moon Reader Pro for example, is awfull in turnign page, ghosting all screen ignore the physical bottoms etc.. instead , the built-in app is well suited to the device fast OB have to polish it more and that's done, will be perfect device!,
The built-in app, Neoreader2 lacks polished now, in futur update i think will be overcome, but that is nothing besides ghosting effect of Moon reader Plus.
I really thing accessing Play Sore for dowloading "tons of app" is useless, better to provide more integration services to the built-in app, like Evernote, Note, dictionary, wiki etc...

This is a typical problem in Chinese consumer electronic company. They don't place user experiences as the highest priority. They only focus on selling the hardware at competitive price. Making money here and there for one time only.

Personally I don't see the point of having Play Store in Max Carta. Because majority of popular App either doesn't work in Android 4.0 or doesn't work well under e-ink tablet.

I have told them they don't integrate well with existing users' e-book software: like sync book wireless over Calibre and etc.

But they don't give a damn. I'm able to read in Chinese. I visited BOOX forum and learnt that they open Qt SDK. TBH, as a consumer who pays a lot, I don't want to develop any App for you for free. So why bother?

If they can do a better job for software and integration, personally I don't mind if my paying more than $600 out of pocket.

I agree, the hardware is correct from my point of view but the sotfware lacks finishing product.

Topic already touched several times. To you it's a "why" and to others a requirement. Hence, as already expressed, the matter is equivalent to product selection. The apps I need work on the device already. Their effort - and they do not have an army, I suppose - should focus on making what works work flawlessly... First of all, Android as a system.

I'm just bitching about their hardware design on BOOX Chinese forum.

Max Carta has great e-ink screen. But their button layout is way beyond acceptable after two week usage.

I owned a Kindle DXG. I loved it although it is 10 years old design. Its on/off button is on the top. It is a latch so that it prevents users accidentally turning it off. Its page up/down button is on the middle of the right hand side. It is very convenient to hold it for reading purpose.

Now let's talk about Max Carta button layout. Its on/off button is located in the bottom. This silly design makes it impossible to put it on my desktop book holder without pressing power button. If I want to hold it for reading on the left or the right edges, because the page up/down button is in the bottom, I have to change my hand position to flip the page.

I support Made in China. But I'm not that optimistic towards design in China. They are just not there yet.
