I had very little glare on my previous Fire. These are more expensive than I like to pay but they work great and they go on smoothly without reapplying and those bubbles. I am eventually going to replace the oine on my Note 3 with one of these.

I've got left over amFilm and BoxWave anti-glare screen covers for my other Android tablets. I'll just trim one of those down. I hate fighting the bubbles, but I think I'll need something on the Fire HD 6.

My point in posting the comparison was to point out that Amazon's 6" tablet isn't much smaller than Samsung's 7" tablet. Samsung does a much better job of trimming excess bulk and weight. Dimensions

You would have loved the Galaxy Player 50 which was discontinued as it only went to gingerbread without hacking. I does everything my Galsxy 7 Plus does and is great as a reader.Perfect size which I still use and may return the Fire 6

That Galaxy Tab 4 was really tempting. The only reason the HD 6 won the debate was so I could download Instant Videos. When I travel for work, I often go to areas with no wi-fi/cell access.
I'd much prefer the freedom of the Galaxy, the SD card, etc... It's a nice looking unit. |

I'm thinking Amazon was focused on durability with the Fire 6, and that is why it looks slightly bulkier than the Tab 4. The Fire 6 looks like it would take a beating compared to the Tab 4 in that video.

I had a SGP 5 (gave it away when I got a Nexus 4), and that would've been a great size for a shirt pocket tablet or a shirt pocket eink ereader.

I got my Fire HD 6 on Thursday and while I liked the color choices, I think I'm happy I went with the black. It's so small and cute that I think colors would have made it look too much like a toy for my liking. YMMV.
I have a cover coming on Monday. Reading on it is nice. I have not noticed glare, but like a previous poster stated, I turn down the brightness when in a darker room. I also have enjoyed playing games on it. I have not tried videos yet. Mine was set to Chinese( or maybe Japanese?) when I got it. ![]() I'm pleased with this purchase. I think this is going to be a success for Amazon. |

The Fires are generally bulkier than the competition. Looking at the HD 7 and the HDX 7, you'll find very little difference size wise.

Glad you mentioned that. I have several extra screen protectors I can cut down. None are anti-glare, though I do have a used one. (It's probably useless.) Might as well try them out!

As far as I can tell, the Galaxy Tab 4 only comes in 8GB, and is on the expensive side. Two strikes against it! I will not buy another tablet with only 8GB. It is too limiting. Even with the SD card. Major fail! I like that the Fire 6 is thicker, also, it will feel sturdier. Since I plan to shove it in my purse a lot, sturdy is good! |

On Amazon, the Fire HD 7 16GB is $159 and the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 8GB w/mSD is $164. So they're basically the same price. When comparing it to the HD 6, it's more expensive. Some people prefer the expansion capabilities afforded by a card slot and others don't. It's definitely a YMMV type of thing. Personally, my preference is 32GB with no card slot. And sturdy it is! A major plus for kids, pockets and bags. |
