Full price in the UK too.

That pretty much made up my mind to buy this ebook, for myself.
I suspect he would prefer to be remembered for his books, but I think most people remember him from the cheating scandal on the 1950s TV show Twenty One, or the movie "Quiz Show" which retold the story (with Hollywood taking their usual dramatic license to ignore the facts).

I just started looking over the selection and I've already seen that you made a great find! Thanks for posting it.

Interestingly, there appear to be no titles about events, or people serving, in pre-Vietnam War times.

A couple of titles that look really good to me (I haven't read them), from the first category, "Military Memoir and Biographies" . . . . First, if you can stand something that is possibly a little bit macabre, Shade it Black: Death and After in Iraq by Jessica Goodell and John Hearn ($1.99) might be a great read. It's about the process that the U.S. military followed in handling the remains (bodies) of American soldiers killed in Iraq, up to and including their arrival back to the States for burial or cremation.

The other title is Mutiny! The True Events that Inspired the Hunt for Red October by Boris Gindin and David Hagberg ($2.99). It is about what the title and subtitle say. Author Gindin served on the Soviet frigate Storozhevoy, the real Soviet ship involved in the incident that was the basis for the blockbuster movie The Hunt for Red October.

Now, back to looking . . . .

Another Highly-Rated, Hugely-Discounted Book about World War II

The way that Amazon calculates things, they say that this ebook is discounted 93%. Wow.

Bailout Over Normandy: A Flyboy's Adventures with the French Resistance and Other Escapades in Occupied France. By Ted Fahrenwald. Rated 4 1/2 stars from 146 reviews at the present moment. Print list price $29.95; digital list price $14.99; Kindle price now $1.99. Casemate Publishers, publisher. 287 pages. http://www.amazon.com/Bailout-Over-N...ccupied+France.

Book Description
A daredevil pilot in the famed 352nd Fighter Squadron, the author of this remarkable memoir bailed out of his burning Mustang two days after D-Day and was launched on a thrilling adventure on the ground in Occupied France.

After months living and fighting with the French Resistance, Fahrenwald was captured by the Wehrmacht, interrogated as a spy, and interned in a POW camp--and made a daring escape just before his deportation to Germany. Nothing diminished this pilot's talent for spotting the ironic humor in even the most aggravating or dangerous situations--nor his penchant for extracting his own improvised and sometimes hilarious version of justice.

A suspenseful WWII page-turner and an outrageously witty tale of daring and friendship, this book brings to vivid life the daily bravery, mischief, and intrigues of fighter pilots, Resistance fighters, and other Allies in the air and on the ground. The Greatest Generation at its best!

The author recorded his swashbuckling adventures at age twenty-four, after his discharge and return to the States. He spent his life in the business world and never again put pen to paper; but his immediate reminiscence of his wartime experience reveals a rare literary talent.

Some of the titles are the same price at Amazon, if you prefer the Kindle/mobi format. Some of the titles at Amazon are not marked down from their usual prices.

The Reign of Queen Victoria by Hector Bolitho

Queen Victoria remains one of the greatest figures in British history, not simply because of the tremendous position which she occupied for so long, but because she was in so many ways herself an extraordinary character.

From the day when as a young girl of eighteen she succeeded to the throne she showed that a constitutional monarch could still have a will of her own and that her words could make statesmen tremble.

In this classic biography Hector Bolitho analyses the phases of the Queen's life; her childhood and upbringing, her all too brief married life with Albert, the years of' retirement behind the great walls of Windsor and the more remote fastnesses of Deeside.

Although Bolitho calls his book `The Reign of Queen Victoria', his work is essentially a record of a remarkable woman and her husband, their personal lives and characters, rather than a political history of her reign.

Hector Bolitho (1897-1974) was born in New Zealand but settled in Britain, where he wrote over fifty books and worked as a freelance journalist. His other books include `Albert: Prince Consort' and `A Penguin in the Eyrie'.

Huh, I always thought it was a Delorean that took me to the past. Guess it depends on whether you are driving a car or a star ship?

P.S. Yes, Star Trek IV is a better movie than Back to the Future!! I'll admit it, I'm a Trekie!

Too bad most of them will be unintelligible to you, unless you're a far better linguist than the average person.

Bargain @ $1.99 from Oxford University Press's US division (couponable @ Kobo, was matched at Amazon, but not iTunes, Google Play, or B&N when I checked, price good for Canada & US, at least, geo-restricted in the UK):

In Her Own Right : The Life of Elizabeth Cady Stanton by Elisabeth Griffith, her biography of the pioneering US feminist and social advocate (Wikipedia), originally out in 1984. The Amazon listing quotes a lot of favourable editorial reviews accumulated over the years. I've no idea how long this has been or will be on sale, but apparently I bought it a couple of years ago and still have not gotten around to reading it yet.

The first comprehensive fully documented biography of the most important woman suffragist and feminist reformer in nineteenth-century America, In Her Own Right restores Elizabeth Cady Stanton to her true place in history. Griffith emphasizes the significance of role models and female friendships in Stanton's progress toward personal and political independence. In Her Own Right is in the author's words an "unabashedly 'great woman' biography.

I thought I might get a copy of this ebook, but I'm trying to figure out about the free edition.

When I go to the eyeonwindows site they're selling it. I wasn't sure if you meant people should look at the Amazon edition, but it's not available in Aus.

I don't feel comfortable just downloading a zip file without knowing it's source - what is the source of it?
