Almost certainly because the author was seriously mentally ill when he wrote it.

I'm aware of that. He had Parkinson's.

What I'd like to see as an eBook is the "Oxford Classical Dictionary". Not everyone's cup of tea, I know, but it's my most-used reference book, and the printed version of it is enormous.

Are you a classicist?

I used to use it regularly when I was studying Latin and Greek. It's very expensive to buy though.

Without a search function it would be difficult to use in ebook format.

A strictly amateur one, yes. I read Latin and Greek for fun.

It is indeed, but it's something which lasts a lifetime, so for me it was well worthwhile.

A good hyperlinked index would be nearly as good.

I would love to see Chambers Dictionary available (for the Kindle) - I read a lot of older literature, esp. British, and Chambers has much better coverage for older, continental usage of words & phrases. It was originally listed by Amazon as going to be available for Kindle, but was then withdrawn. I had planned to replace my K default dictionary with it.

The Chambers dictionary is available as a Mobipocket dictionary; I have it on my CyBook Gen3 and my iRex DR1000.

Do you not have, say, a mobile (cell) phone which supports Mobipocket Reader? You could always install it on that.

Which explains probably why it was withdrawn from Amazon - evil DRM restrictions strike again!

Kazuo Ishiguro's books seem woefully un-Kindelized. My unusual favorite is The Unconsoled, but even Remains of the Day (yeah, the one with Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson in the movie) isn't out in e-format, though the excellent and more recent Never Let Me Go is.

I'm a fan of LONG books, so I would definitely like to see Dumas Malone's 6 or so vols on the life of Thomas Jefferson in ebook form -- fat chance!

I like India books, am glad to see that the amazing Shantaram is available for Kindle, but what about The Far Pavillions? What about Jewel in the Crown?

I was recently looking for John Dos Passos books, couldn't find any in e-format.

No books by B. Traven appear to have been Kindelized. He wrote Treasure of the Sierra Madre, among other classics. Look him up in Wikipedia for his intriguing story.

And Anthony Powell's Dance to the Music of Time series? Haven't seen it in e-land.

Ebook Wishlist Thread

Not everything has been published YET on ebook form... and some books, as we know, have been published just into one of the formats.

Do you have any author/book/series you'd like to be able to read into your ereader/liseuse but never found?

The series by Auel, Sarabande and Gear are on the top of my wish list. All the books by some well-known Dutch writers (mostly children and juvenile books) such as Thea Beckman, Evert Hartman and Jan Terlouw. All the books by Walter Farley. The series by Mary Stewart...

And the list goes on and on and on and on...
