Nightyume, note that you don't need to disconnect after the affiliate name change. A sync is enough in itself

I know. That's why I put in parantheses the option to sync via Kobo Desktop and then disconnecting (you can't sync via the reader while connected to the comp after all).

Sorry, I missed the fact that "disconnect" was optional

Yes, it's a disappointment for me too. I noticed that the items which get sync to the Kobo are the so called "Articles". Anything other - Videos, Images AND regular links to pages - are not synced.

Ah, to hell with it, I upgraded to 2.10 now that it is officially available in my territory, and luckily no more light bug. I'll live with Amasis for the time being.

Anyway: I don't know how long this has been a feature, but I only saw it now: previews of footnotes! And fast, responsive ones at that. I tried with Infinite Jest, figuring if any book would bring my Kobo to its knees with the footnotes, it would be that one. But no, as snappy as you could want, it first displays a preview of the footnote, with options to go there or cancel. If you go there, it is near instantaneous, and the same going back to the text from the footnote.

If this has been there all along, I apologize

(Also, being able to look up words from inside the dictionary is super great.)

Pocket is working great for me, and synching articles is a LOT snappier than in 2.9. Have only run into one instance so far where an article won't synch, and that is "Mother Earth, Mother Board" by Neal Stephenson on Wired. Strange.

Videos obviously won't play in an E-Ink screen :-)

(Am I the only one who is waiting impatiently for some other screen tech to come along? Electrowetting displays seemed so promising, but haven't heard a peep in two years now.)

I was just about to do the "mondadori" trick when 2.10.0 downloaded and installed on my Aura HD! (UK)

Light is acting weird in 2.10. I usually have it at 5% (1% is fine for text in darkness, but not enough for manga). My Aura HD went to sleep by itself and when i turned it back on the light was turned off (which is expected, the timer for both turning off the light and entering sleep mode is 15 minutes) but after turning the light back on it came at 1%. Turning off and on the light if it's less than 10% sends it back to 1%. I noticed on previous firmwares (2.6X, can't remember the exact number, it was the one it came with and 2.81) that if the light was over 1% and you turned it off you could see the light first dimmed to 1% before turning off, but it came back to whatever level it was set (5% in my case).

Doesn't happen when i put it to sleep manually, just when it goes to sleep for itself or when turning the light off and on, and only when the light is under 10%

I see it's now finally possible to turn pages in pdf zoom mode by just tapping the side, without using the black margin.

I have the same bug on my Glo. Figures that with all the new stuff they added something had to break a little bit.

Has anyone received 2.10 from Kobo on their Aura HD in the U.S. yet?

The popup footnotes in kepubs have been around for a while. For me, bringing back the return to previous position in epubs make it easier to use footnotes -- it's bad enough trying to hit the hot spot without turning the page without having to do the same to return from the footnote.

David
