It does, but Android market is a mess. That is partly why I hate using it. Go on there, look for an app, and look at the reviews. You'll see posts like.. works with Samsung fascinate, doesn't work with HTC EVO, etc. Who wants to deal with that? I know I don't. When I had an iphone it all worked. No figuring out what would and wouldn't work. That becomes a big deal, and the average consumer isn't going to be rooting and putting new builds on their tablet. They just want ease of use..

Apple delivers that, and I think Amazon is in the best position to do it nearly as well.

well tell that to owners of the original iphone and the iphone 3Gs after iOS5 is released. There will apps thata wont work with outdated software versions. It's progession.

I would love to see an example of Fascinate and Evo apps not working on each other's phones, besides Samsung or Sprint specific apps. The only one that was like that was Netflix which is all but remedied now and had more to do with DRM and not Android market place.

and calling the Android market a mess is typical iSheep rhetoric using outdate remarks. When was the last time you've been to the android market? If you ever have at all. It's quite nice, alot nice from let's say two years ago.

I get my updates from Amazon. No more will I have to get angry that Android 3.0 is out but my stupid manufacturer won't upgrade me past 2.2. I won't have to feel obsolete a week after I buy it. Pretty much like my iPad. Ipad2 is out but we are running he same OS so I'm fine. You don't get that experience with Android. You might get, maybe 2 updates in OS if your lucky, then its on to the 20 new tablets that's came out since you bought yours. You're left feeling forgotten. I don't think that is how it will be when you buy Amazon.

Lets not forget its rumored people will get a year of Prime, free shipping, 4 dollar over night shipping.. AND free streaming movies too? B&N is going to be hard pressed to compete with that. The other Android Manufacturer also just can't compete on that level.

I have an Android phone, and lately, I've been getting my Apps out of Amazon's store rather then Google's. I like the experience better, and I trust Amazon more..(been shopping with them over 10 years now.) All of that will mean something when it comes to tablet sales.

I just find it ironic that Googles ''open'' system cause the Telco companies to screw us when Apple had been making such great gains to win freedom away from them. Now that same ''open'' system has allowed Amazon to step in, lock Google out of their own system, and most probably, will end up being the biggest selling Android tablet.

You do know that Amazon can't update your phones software version don't you? The updates from amazon are update to the apps themselves not your phone. Android 2.xxx is the mobile phone OS the 3.0 is the Tablets OS

They have nothing to do with each other. I think you might be in over your head in this convesation.

Nook Color, I only put the Kindle App, DEZPDF, and Mantano reader.

I didn't get many apps on my tablet because I use it mainly for internet browsing, but I would have thought that if there is a problem it would show up in the comments.

LookOut Mobile is the best app if you are worried about virus. It's scans all apps, does data backup's, a great phone locator.

Hard to call it isheep related when I own 3 android devices, plan to buy Amazon's and only own one Apple product.

3gs is what? 2 years? My 3g iphone is 3.. Supporting a product for 2 or 3 years is great compared to what you get with Android. Unless you buy a device with vanilla android, you are lucky if you get 2 updates within the first year. My Fascinate got 2.2 and I don't expect to get anymore OS updates. Never mind that Samsung makes 20 versions of my phone a month, each with the latest OS.. but they can't be bothered to make an update for what they have already sold.

This is a big problem with Android stuff. This is why I'm looking forward to what Amazon will put out. I hear they are working on a phone as well. That could prove interesting.

you claim you own android devices but your remarks don't seem to match up. You seem to speak as if you are very uniformed of the current Android market and it's apps and it's processes.

Since the Newest Market Google changed the way the Market works, you will only ever see apps that supported by your hardware.

No their not, as a matter of fact it's even worse Amazon has no compatibility and no direct feedback to the vendor. You can buy an app that is not supported by your hardware and you have no way to get a refund or inform the vendor of any issues.

The update process is much much slower on Amazon so fixes will take months where in the Market they can be as short as a few hours.

But virus and Malware are not the only threat, there is also apps that can steal your data that legitimately pass Amazon and Apples checkpoint and that can be accomplished on any platform, BlackBerry, iOS, Android.

The nice thing about BB and Android is they tell you which apps are requesting access to this sensitive information.

dont' really mean to be, I do tend get into debates but I'm referring to the rhetoric as being "isheep" because that is the usually nonsense spewed out by Apple fanboys. Amazon does relive the user of some responsibility, I haven't had a virus or Malware on my Samsung because I'm careful what I download onto my phone. Which part? That apps like AutoCard run on my Fascinate, and Edge, but not my Nook Color? That Android device makers don't seem to want to keep supporting the device once they've sold it?

I don't think I'm the one uniformed. Go to the market and look through the Apps. 9 times out 10, you will always see someone make sure to highlight what device they are using so you know it works if you have the same device. This is one of the great things about android users, they do try to let you know if there is a problem on a certain device.

You can try to make me out as Apple fanboi or whatever you want to call me. Although I think its you that has the droid color glasses. I just like tech. If I like it, I'll buy it. I don't care who makes it. But also after having so many devices, I have a compassion of who seems to have a better user experience.

I expect Amazon to have a much better user experience then Google. If that hurts your feelings, oh well. I for one look forward to trying it out.
