I really don't think the magnets being too weak or improperly placed are the issue. It has happened on the Kobo Glos as well as on the Glo HD periodically in different covers. And several of the magnets in the covers will turn off the book when the cover is flipped back to read, where I had to put a few layers of foil. It doesn't happen often, just enough to be annoying where you know you have to check when you close the cover. Most of my covers do not have any play in them where they don't close correctly, the magnets are lined up where they should be.
And the magnets in the cover certainly wouldn't explain why when I plug the readers into the USB cable to my PC for charging that the light stays on. There really doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason why or when it happens unfortunately. When it decides to stay on when plugged into the USB cable though, I can unplug and replug it in several times and the light will always stay on. I have to turn the light off when it's unplugged when that happens as the only solution. Whereas when the light stays on after the cover is closed, opening it again and reclosing it will always shut the light off. |

I only have this with the Glo HD, with the normal Glo it never happens (the sometimes not good reacting on the "flap" of the cover but as the timer kicks in,the light went off anyway.) but even then,it is made to work 2 months at full charge so it never drains my battery even if it would stay on and that was where some people are searching for as an explanation for a power drain.
On My device, the repositioning of the "flap" makes it to go out so in my case it has something to do with the cover. But that one is a cheap one from ebay for 1,99. The only thing I can say is, there are so much people with all kind of problems that i lucky never had..it alsmost looks like that a lot of devices have some hardware/software problems of their own.. almost individual.. makes it hard to solve ![]() |

Anyone else in the UK still stuck on 3.15?
I know I can force the 3.16, but I'd rather wait for Kobo to make it available. Thanks, Steve |

Hi ! What did you got for a sleepcover ? I saw two times a cheap chinese sleepcover draining the battery because of super strong magnetst. The two cases were solved by removing the magnets for the first and by going for the official kobo sleepcover for the second. If this is the issue, shut down the kobo will change nothing. You could try letting it sleep / shutdown outside the cover for a while and check if it’s depleting the same way. There is no scientific about it, even I can’t see why a magnetic field should affect a battery ; but since i’ve experienced it two times on kobo glo...

It appears that on 3.16 Kobo again forgets the last chosen dictionary and returns to default every time. If standard computer software were programmed with such expertise we would have to reinvent the wheel.

I cannot see that this has changed since 3.15. If you select a definition dictionary, this dictionary will be opened the next time you select a word. If however you select a translation dictionary, the next time the default definition dictionary is opened again. If have no idea why they decided to do it this way, if this was a deliberate decision at all.

I am German and only need the dictionary once in a while when reading English books. Now I'm considering to buy an open Android ereader like Icarus Illumina, to have Coolreader and Goldendict installed. Last edited by Maida; 07-20-2015 at 01:51 PM. |

With 3.16.0, has the bug where search results (in a book) show the same chapter for each result no matter which chapter the results are found?

Please note that this only works when the ebook is properly formatted. There are quite a few examples where the toc.ncx is garbage or just contains a single start entry and the search result locations are GIGO. Last edited by DNSB; 07-25-2015 at 07:04 PM. |

My Kobo Touch is still running 1.9.10. What are some of the things that I'm missing out on by not being at 3.16.0?
