			Why?  If it costs me nothing (monetary nor loss of available borrowing slots) to borrow the book and then return it if I don't like it, why would I go through the trouble of getting the sample first?  That would just guarantee lost time for the cases where I did want to read the book.

			I have not read all the posts, so my apologies if this has already been asked/pointed out, but: isn't participation in the KU programme voluntary for the authors? And in which case, what the heck are they complain about?

			KU authors sign up for a minimum term, and the amount per book is not guaranteed, in fact I think it's falling (I follow an author's blog who has books in KU and she will pull out when the minimum term is up, it was good at first, but now the income is dropping, she thinks it's because everyone who wanted to read her books has read them no and new readers are not coming through)
