I think I need SD card image for my Kobo Mini
Good day, I have tried to upgrade my Kobo Mini using Kobo Desktop application and something went wrong. It doesn't boot any more. It tries to boot and just stops. The screen is blank. I've read that something like that happened to other people and I need a new SD card image. Can someone please send me the link. Thank you much.

@fgols: Have you tried to do a factory reset? Try the last method on https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kobo_Reset:_Mini.

If that doesn't work and you need an image, you need to enable Private Messaging. This is in the "Edit Options" of the control panel. If this isn't there, it has to be added somehow. You can try posting in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=319819 to ask it to be enabled, or contact a moderator.

Does the PC see your Mini? If not, you need to sort that out. The usual suggestions are to use different cables or ports on the PC. Or a different PC.

Otherwise, you have to find a way to put the firmware updated directly on the SD card in the right place. That is easy with a MAC or a Linux based PC, but, I don't know how to do it with Windows.

mah! when I connect it to the pc it tells me that the sd is to be formatted but I read that it is normal.
where should I put the firmware in the sd? and where do I get it?
once put in the sd the mini updates when I turn it on?

You need to put the update files into the ".kobo" directory of the third partition. This will be formatted as FAT32.

Lost power during firmware update
Hi all,

My daughter's Kobo mini has a flickering battery now, and it lost power during a firmware update. I now have a device that is not booting anymore, just flashing green light.

Would anybody be kind enough to send me a kobo mini image? I think PM are activated in my profile. That would be extremely appreciated!

I now, thanks to the great moderator team, have access to PM.

I can confirm that I have a fried (empty) first and third partition, and a second partition in upgrade mode

The first and third partitions being empty suggest that something has triggered a factory reset. The partitions get formatted during this. Then the factory firmware is unpacked from the second partition. Doing a manual factory reset might fix it. Otherwise, the image should do the job.

Thanks a lot David,

I think I couldn't get enough power to factory reset, as it seems in this situation, it will start, try to update it's files and will not trigger the charge so it will crash again on low power.

To successfully kickstart the kobo in this state where to battery is empty, I believe it needs a proper image so it can boot on low power, and then start charging.

My daughter's Kobo is now fully working, thanks for your image. Even if this devices are now 10 years old, finding help for it has been the highlight of my day

Hey, I got a second hand Kobo Mini, I reset it only to find out that I can't set it up with the app or wireless, I tried a few things and ended up messing up the card, any chance I could get the image so I can start fresh?

Can I ask anyone to upload the sd image for kobo mini please. After the update screen won't turn on. I guess I need to reinstall a new image on the card. Thank you
