On 3.3.0, and I'd like to add the line "FullScreenReading=true" to the [FeatureSettings] section in the config file but there's no [FeatureSettings] section in that file.

Add both lines then:

[FeatureSettings]
FullScreenReading=true

I'd recommend using an editor that handles Unix style end of lines. Notepad++ for Windows systems works well.

I gave 3.3 another shot. But this times, I changed the affiliate to bestbuyca so I would receive the official update directly from kobo.

I'm still not sure about activating that full screen option again.

To those who have a Glo with the full screen on, any updates or comments? Like performance in general?

Update: should I change my affiliate back to whatever it was before I changed it?

There really isn't any difference between manually installing it and letting it download and install.

Why not? You add it in, try it and if you don't like it, remove it. It doesn't affect anything else.

My only real comment is that it fills the screen. I can't see any performance issues. Reading an epub like this works with no problems. Personally, it might fill the screen a bit much and I am so used to the page numbers at the bottom that I don't really like it.

There are a few options that the affiliate affects. The screensaver options and whether Pocket is available are the ones I can think of. It might also affect the shop, but I think that would only be when setting up the user in the first place.

I still haven't changed it back. My original affiliate was just "Kobo". I've checked all the settings and I didn't find anything different.

And about that full screen thing, I've tried it the first time I updated to 3.3 via sideloading. It left some scars.

For now I'm just gonna let it run and see if the problems I've experienced will repeat itself.

I've always believed it was also to avoid to be too intense on the servers. If all the Kobo devices worldwide were to update within a couple of days, I bet the servers would be down more often than not.

Regarding the affiliate, isn't that supposed to give a small percentage of every ebook sale made from the device to said affiliate? Maybe I misunderstood something here.
Anyway, I would glad to keep FNAC as affiliate if there was a way to display the book cover when the device is in sleep mode (or the smiling Kobo dude). But the FNAC logo? No, thank you.

Edit: I don't know if that's related to the firmware update, but now the Pocket articles have very wide margins that can't be changed. They are wider than before for sure. I don't really like it

Thanks for info; good to know it is more of a technical issue (hopefully over time process will speed up).

What PeterT said was first hand information, while what I wrote is merely a guess That makes sense, but it wouldn't be the first time that I would be wrong

A couple of firmware releases ago, there was a slight change between what was released at the beginning of the roll out and what everyone got later on. So I'm not in a rush to get the update since issues can be spotted and corrected if needed be.

On the Pocket topic: am I the only with the strange display?

I just checked 5 or 6 Pocket articles on my Aura HD they are all normal (no big margins). On 3.3.0. Maybe something with the article source?

Thank you Robko and Hleo12. I think I'll log out of Pocket and log in again to see if that makes any change. I'll take some pictures before.

Glad to see your Pocket articles are fine, though

I would be somewhat surprised if that was really true. There are lots of ways to avoid that being an issue - CDNs and so on. 72 megs isn't a large file to ship nowadays.

By "really" true I could understand rolling them out over a few hours or a day, but usually it takes weeks for the roll out to complete. That's taking "staggered releases" rather to the limit.
