To potential buyers of the eDGe Devices: I know that many of you may be reading these forums and are wondering what's going on. I recommend you go through these forums thoroughly. You should be informed. Let me start by telling you that the eDGe is a great device! It is a wonderful way to read pdf files and ebooks, and is almost unique in giving you the ability to annotate pdf's without a full PC and expensive software. The dual book concept is fantastic, and having the two screens gives you lots of flexibility. I recommend you carefully evaluate the device, and if it does what you need in its current form, then buy it! My only caveat is that you should not expect software upgrades going forward. We dont know what will happen. The eDGe runs Android 1.6, and the availability of Android 2.2 is really unknown at this point. So, if you like the eDGe for what it is, get it. If you are expecting new software, then I recommend you dont buy it because the future, as yet, is unclear at best. I give the same advice to friends recently contemplating buying an Android 2.2 device like the Samsung Galaxy Tab. To think that it will get upgraded to Android 3.0, in my opinion, is magical thinking. Android upgrades are not on the internet, they have to come from the company. The company's best interest is to sell you a new piece of hardware. (I do realize that people who are into developing are able to make such things happen, I am addressing the average person who just uses a device)
Please know that these thoughts are strictly my own, and I am in no way trying to reflect the views of Entourage (which are unknown!), any forum participant, or any one else in the world. It's just from me. To my Forum colleagues: I believe that the key to avoiding trouble is the management of expectations. Entourage has not done this at all, which has led to this speculation and "digital frenzy". My goal is to tell potential buyers that they shouldnt expect anything in the future. By being realistic, everyone can be satisfied and not be waiting for what may never arrive. |

So far so good for me. I received my new PE yesterday. I love the form factor, and am exploring all the capabilities.
I purchased it as a 'Used - like New' item, and had to contact Entourage tech support to have it set as transferable so I could register it. I called late yesterday, and got a response back already today. They were very professional. So I am successfully registered and ready to rock! |

"Tant qu'il y a de la vie, y a de l'espoir " (Since there's life, there's hope...") Hope you'll like your PE. I got mine 2 weeks ago, and can't be separated from it. It's severely addicting! I'm still adding apps and customizing it. So far I'm very happy with it, minor annoyances are the lack to share calendars and contacts so far, but I'm sure there's a way somehow. Qwill; PE addicted. |

Welcome Glow! I have had mine since Nov and found the forums very helpful. The general forum was very helpful especially boris' "Welcome basket".

I believe the store "feeds" are actually directly from the distributors, i.e., noone at enTourage needs to manually catalogue and add ebooks. However, it's a good sign in that distributors are still doing business with enTourage

I have a friend that came over last night and really encouraged me. I have been feeling down as of late because of my, lately, worsening symptoms of MS. He helped me to realize that dwelling on the bad things in my life was attracting bad things (or a self-fulfilling prophecy) to me. On the flip side, I am going to dwell on the things I am thankful for and try to visualize good things for myself and my family. I decided to also do that for Entourage, as an experiment. I hope I didn't put anyone off if I sounded to "out there" last night (or right now).
So far, it as resulted in a better mood and time out in a nice sunny day! |
