It isn't and hasn't been buggy, for me. How do you launch Koreader? Can you connect your H2o to your PC with the USB cable? If so just delete the /.kobo/koreader folder (and any koreader.png). Then download the current koreader package and copy the koreader folder from the download zip file to your device's /.kobo directory. If your problem was with the current nightly version, then try an earlier version. Use the Kobo Start Menu (KSM) to launch koreader.

I have koreader version 2014.11-15 on my AuraHD and the frontlight settings work fine.

You might want to wait till later today or tomorrow, as tshering has said that he would have a new version (KSM7) out by then.

Luck;
Ken

Hi Ken,
I run Koreader by pressing on "Switch to Koreader" from KSM. I can't connect the device to the PC, it's simply not recognised as a mass storage media. I used the current Nightly Version and assume it's the root of the problem. The question is: what can I do to force a device power-off?

Unfortunately I can't check the versions of the software I use since I can't exit Koreader.

Thanks for your help

I don't have an H2o, but I understand that it has a power slide switch, have you tried holding it all the way to the right while counting to 25? That should shut it off. A regular pull on the power slider should then start your KSM. You might want to use the plain "start koreader" not the one for switching between koreader and nickel.

The h2o has a normal button, not slide one, but appart from that all things must work like you say. Or he can use the pinhole reset

One more thing: if device is powered off after it is frozen, the picture on the device will not chagne, as screen is not updated. I agree that pinhole reset is better, as you see at once whether it is restarted.

I'm not sure what you mean. From a quick test with a Touch and an H2O, the pin-hole doesn't do anything if the device is powered off. It's there as a way to force a restart of a device that has hung. In that way, it is just like the reset button on a PC.

Yes, but it is easier to do a reset (which is quite visible), then to turn off first, then turn on . In this case turning off is not visible, as the same screen remains. (I oong press power off usually 3-4 times until once it succeeds for enough time.)

Hi guys, I was able to reboot the device with the pin-hole method. After that, I couldn't reproduce the error and the frontlight menu can be closed just fine. However, I now have a different problem but I don't think koreader is the cause: I can't connect to any Wifi network anymore (Error Message "Something went wrong..."). I hope I can sort out all issues.

You may need to go into Nickel settings Wifi network to have your network seen by the device again. Once it is a "known" network the device will make the connection for Koreader, as well.

Additionally it's possible that the file where the underlying O/S stores the WiFi settings has become corrupted. Loading this patch will replace that file with a clean (albeit empty) copy. See --> Unable to add WiFi Network and solution

Alternatively you can simply delete the file /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf. This might be the easier solution for people who use Kobo Launcher, KSM or can access the reader via telnet or similar).

I became only now aware that in the latest nightly release koreader.sh has changed. I wonder whether the following part does what is intended.

Code:
# check whether PLATFORM has a value assigned by rcS
# PLATFORM is used in koreader for the path to the WiFi drivers
if [ -n "$PLATFORM" ]; then
  PLATFORM=freescale
  if [ `dd if=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=512 skip=1024 count=1 | grep -c "HW CONFIG"` == 1 ]; then
    CPU=`ntx_hwconfig -s -p /dev/mmcblk0 CPU`
    PLATFORM=$CPU-ntx
  fi
...
Or was it meant to be
Code:
if [ -z "$PLATFORM" ]; then
?

@tshering: Good catch! I'm partial to [ ! -n "${string}" ], but that's just me .

Custom gestures

Since things are really quiet with the koreader development (no major problems with the reader) I wanted to ask if its possible to add a custom gesture.

This is what I mean:

For a few months now I read I lot of pdfs that have code snippets in them.
Since most of them are for python, the indentation is important, so I have to turn re-flow off.
But after the code part, the re-flow is so much better than the original layout, that I have to turn it back on.
For that, I need 4 taps before I can see the text with the new layout.
This can happen sometimes in almost every page.

So, back to the question.

Is it possible to assign a 'tap zone' for a command to toggle the re-flow on-off?
A mechanism for that can be used to change other parameters of the layout also.

Thanks for your time anyway ...
