Good morning, everyone! No PTA meetings today so it looks to be a quiet, laid back sort of day. I have a full (second) mug of East India Company's "Assam" tea beside me, a belly full of bacon and eggs, and not a care in the world... unless watering the plants on the veranda can be considered a care. In this heat I go through 4-5 gallons of water for them every two days just to keep everything alive. I really wish I had a hose I could use instead of the watering can. Oh well... it's exercise.

No, we do occasionally go out on a single malt diversion, but this is still a hard core group of (mostly) tea drinkers. Including me. But tea is for morning and afternoon. Single malt, or Bombay Sapphire, or even (shudder) Coke Zero in the evening.

But that's OK, poohbear_nc, we will convert you.

As ProfCrash says: Assimilation does not have to be painful. Here, have a cup of tea.

Good morning, everyone! The third day of August... just another 2-3 weeks of this heat to put up with (to up with put?) I have some Twining's "Prince of Wales" tea in my cup today. Slumming a bit, I guess, but I like it. And a bowl of rice, miso soup, and roast pork to get me started.

It's odd, but that doesn't seem to affect me. I can drink it all evening and sleep like a log. I wonder if coffee would affect me the same way?

It is called "Zen in Black" came with a "new" Bunn MCP I received today, so probably low quality. (ebay win)

Normal drip brewed coffee has around 120mg of caffeine per 8oz cup. Not sure how that compares to black tea though.

It's my own personal opinion, but I don't think that it's the caffeine itself that causes the problems. I think (and again, it's only my thinking with no concrete proofs) that it's a combination of caffeine AND some other alkaloids together that cause the insomnia. Cola, especially something like "Jolt Cola" or "Red Bull" has even more caffeine than most coffees, but dosn't keep me awake either. I can feel the 'buzz' of the caffeine, but it doesn't keep me up. Some black teas are reported to have even more caffeine than coffee, and they don't have any effect on my sleeping.
