I got the first one in that series due to you guys recommendations. I have read and loved some of this authors historical romances. Its the contempo/suspense stuff that I seem to have trouble finding new stuff I like. I find I prefer the "older" type CR where the emphasys was actually on the romance, not who can be more douchbaggy in the relationship, h or H. There is also less insta love and insta humping going on, while still having plenty of steam.

But those covers are horrible. I actually saw those books in the store, but scrolled right by as I thought it was another author with a similar name. Now I know they are older Silhouette.

Just FYI, the books are not really a series. Only two of them are even connected (A Prince of a Guy and The Princess and the Pea make up her Kingdom of Moritania series).

When/if she releases them, Perchance to Dream (originally SIM#276) and Lightning Strikes (SIM#351) are connected.

Then Worth Any Risk (SIM #191) ties into her Kendall Family series: Jake’s Way (SIM#413), Simple Gifts (SIM#571), Some Men’s Dreams (SIM#1237), and Dangerous Temptation (SN#2). As much as I do love many of the Korbel books, don't get me started on how she took this straight contemporary series and morphed the last book into the start of her paranormal Daughters of Myth trilogy

FWIW, her only other two connected books are available from Harlequin, Don’t Fence Me In (SC#1015) and Sail Away (SD#1254). Some Men’s Dreams and the Daughters of Myth books (Dangerous Temptation, Dark Seduction, Deadly Redemption) are as well.

thanks for all that info library addict, really helpful. I am a OCD in order reader so when I see book 1, or such and such series 1, the OCD kicks in.

I guess they figured a "series" is an easier sell then?

I was going to ask, is there like a listing of all the SIM by numbers? Or any other of the lines they had/have? Would be interesting to sift through the older stuff and see if they have been re-released.

The publisher is notorious for doing this. Making a series out of books that have never been one and not even connected. It's a marketing ploy.

Yep. Back when they first came out I don't think they were called series so much as 'collections'. You had the Tall, Dark and Handsome collection, Rancher of the Month, Baby of the Month, Billionaires and Sheiks and whatever they could loosely connect. It was ridiculous but I can admit I was one of those that had to have all of them.

If you were to go this route you would actually be better off using the Save To Disk feature in Calibre. You can set your own directory structure and you don't have to worry about messing anything up in Calibre by accident. Plus it's really not a good idea to store an active Calibre library in Dropbox. I used to but stopped after the third time it became corrupted due to Dropbox trying to write files while I was still editing them.

The Harlequin Christmas Countdown giveaway for Dec 21st is an MP3 audiobook version (needs Overdrive to download) of:

Outlaw Hartes by RaeAnne Thayne, an omnibus edition of 2 f/m contemporary cowboy romance stories in the eponymous series.

Currently free just until shortly before midnight Eastern Time directly @ the publisher's website, using coupon code DAY2115 for the audiobook only (available worldwide). The separate freebie online serial read by Carla Cassidy (of Pregnesia fame) continues on the regular Christmas Countdown page here.

New York Times bestselling author RaeAnne Thayne brings us two stories from her Outlaw Hartes series. These couples may not be looking for love, but they are about to find it!

THE VALENTINE TWO-STEP

He had been bamboozled by women before, but for rancher and single father Matt Harte, this is the last straw! Because of his daughter's shenanigans, he's been roped into planning the annual Valentine's Day dance. And who's his partner on the committee? Beautiful big-city vet and recent Salt River transplant Ellie Webster, the woman he can't take his eyes off—though not for lack of trying!

CASSIDY HARTE AND THE COMEBACK KID

Ten years ago, Cassidy Harte stood at the altar waiting for Zach Slater, but he never showed. So she did the only thing she could—held her head up high and swore off men. Now suddenly Zach's back with an "I'm sorry" on his lips, an explanation she refuses to hear and the vow to make her his once again. And it seems this is one vow he's determined to keep…

While Silhouette had Man of the Month in the Silhouette Desire line, American Hero in the Intimate Moments line, etc. I don't think of those as actual series. And back in the day not all truly related books were even labeled as such. And many that were (with the asterisks and odd symbols on the list in the front of the book) were not given series names.

FWIW, I labeled Don’t Fence Me In/Sail Away as "Cambell Cousins" in Calibre. I will label Perchance to Dream/Lightning Strikes as "Thorne Siblings" when the time comes. (Yes, I have no imagination for thinking up these things )

But this so-called series can't be blamed on Harlequin/Silhouette as the author is self-publishing them through ePublishing Works! I think labeling them as "Korbel Classic Romance Humorous Series" is just a way to differentiate the books from the medical suspense she first wrote as Eileen Dreyer as well as her most recent historicals. Also the series name lets people know these books are not recent contemporaries, but set during the 80s/90s. Personally, I am so grateful she decided to leave the text alone and not update/revise them! I am not a fan of authors doing that.

And today's ARe freebie, available December 21-22, is Releasing Rage by Cynthia Sax

Spoiler:
Half Man. Half Machine. All Hers.

Rage, the Humanoid Alliance’s most primitive cyborg, has two goals—kill all of the humans on his battle station and escape to the Homeland. The warrior has seen the darkness in others and in himself. He believes that’s all he’s been programmed to experience.

Until he meets Joan.

Joan, the battle station’s first female engineer, has one goal—survive long enough to help the big sexy cyborg plotting to kill her. Rage might not trust her but he wants her. She sees the passion in his eyes, the caring in his battle-worn hands, the gruff emotion in his voice.

When Joan survives the unthinkable, Rage’s priorities are tested. Is there enough room in this cyborg’s heart for both love and revenge?

Note: This is a dark SciFi erotic romance. If you're sensitive to violence of ANY kind (including sexual), you might wish to read one of Cynthia Sax's lighter SciFi erotic romances.

That is good if she really didn't do any editing or updating to them. Most authors can't stand to leave their work alone once they have the rights back.

ePublishing Works! Is the publisher I was speaking about in my previous post not Harlequin.
