I URGE you strongly to try using Calibre to load some books. Once you have it set up, it is a breeze, nothing cumbersome whatsoever. I think you will be very pleased. I'd be happy to share my settings/work flow.

Can it be done wirelessly? That is just how I do things I don't have access to my computer when hubby is home he hogs it. My laptop I don't use Calibre On unless I need to grab a book from Dropbox and fix it. All my libraries are on my Desktop or Dropbox.

There may be a way, with content server, but I am not sure, you should ask in the Kobo forum.

You don't need to hook up to the computer very often, once a month, even, to load everything you want to read for the month. Not everyone is obsessive enough to need to run to Calibre and delete a book the minute it's finished *cough* you could do it once a month.

Today's ARe freebie, available December 20-21:

Building Bonds, by Morticia Knight

Spoiler:
Kyle’s a natural sub who builds dungeon furniture, yet has no interest in BDSM. It takes a hunky Dom to show him just what he’s been missing.

After Kyle’s partner of five years leaves him for another man on the night of their housewarming party, the shy, early-thirties carpenter needs to do a major reassessment of his life in addition to raising some serious cash. With no one to help him pay the lease on his Los Angeles condo, he worries how he’ll survive. His best friend sets up a meeting with one of the Doms and partners at Kiss of Leather, a gay BDSM club being built as a premier destination for those who want the best of the best.

Master Gavin not only wants the best—he demands it. When he meets Kyle, he assumes that part of the builder’s reticence to share anything personal with him must be due to his experiences with an abusive former Master. Not one to back down from a challenge, Gavin determines to break through the walls surrounding the beautiful man he can’t get out of his mind. He’s hopeful that once he convinces Kyle to sign an initial contract, Kyle might be the first sub to open up his heart.

Misunderstandings and accusations almost destroy everything between them before they have a real chance to begin. However, the true obstacle becomes not only whether Kyle will embrace BDSM as a lifestyle, but also whether he can handle a full-time D/s relationship with a big, bad, scary Dom who’s as sexy as hell.

Content sever would mean computer would have to be running my profile so that is out. I think Dropbox is best for me. I don't plan my reading I read whatever I'm in the mood for.

Yes; you can access your Calibre library wirelessly. I prefer (and recommend) doing so via the Calibre Companion app. Calibre Companion can connect with Calibre: "as Wireless Device", "to Content Server", "to Cloud".

Calibre Companion is not an option for Kobo Glo HD, I'm afraid.

Oh; too bad. Forgive me, please, if that was already stated and I overlooked it.

I guess Kobo Glo HD users must then access their Calibre libraries via their cloud service (or by saving them to a microsd card or dual usb flash drive).

No external SD Card and it seems only Dropbox works with the extremely limited browser. Other cloud services I've tried don't.

No, IT wasn't stated, that's the reason of my comment. As calibre companion is an android app, you need an android rink reader where you can install app.

My preference is to load via USB cable. I have 1500 books/stories on my Glo HD, many of them sorted into collections. When using the features of Kobo and Calibre together, I feel it is a better option than eink Android devices.

I prefer use the cloud. Dropbox works I just wish the browser kept cookies so I don't have to log in every time.

Thank heavens it's not just me! I got all excited when I heard Kathleen Korbel/Eileen Dreyer's early Silhouette books were being made into ebooks. Then I saw the covers and my first reaction was blech. Thankfully it's not that difficult to replace covers.

You can use the content server for Calibre via the Kobo web browser although it's a bit cumbersome.

My Hubby also hogs the computer so what I do is nab the computer long enough to log into my account and start the content server (and add any new books necessary) and then I switch user accounts and my hubby logs in. That way the calibre content server is running in the background so I can get at my books while my hubby browses the net and plays his games.

You can also store your calibre library on Dropbox although the nested folder structure might interfere with browsing if not searches (a book will be stored in a book folder which is in the author folder which is in the main folder).
