I don't know if it makes a difference, but for me it would always be the build-in author-column. Will it copy everything or can I choose which UC it copies? |

What if the UC already exists in the target library but I just want it updated with a new author?

I tested it 2 different ways but with the same libraries. I can copy from one library to another just fine and as an unexpected bonus I can also copy a category from the library where it exists to one where it doesn't. I can test with 2 different libraries as well if you want me to? |

Until this new tool is 100% safe and accurate, it is going nowhere except to another Beta test. DaltonST | |

Version 1.0.93: 2 New GUI Tools (Both Experimental)

Version 1.0.93 -2018-01-09 New GUI Tool: EXPERIMENTAL Release Candidate #1: Per-Library Tweak for Calibre Global Tweak for Author Sort Method; New GUI Tool: EXPERIMENTAL Release Candidate #1: Copy User Category from Source Library to Target Library See the attached. I have personally tested both of these ad nauseam, so they are ready to be "acceptance tested" by those who requested them and by those who may be interested. As always, you should test any functionality in your "test" libraries to ensure that it works for you, personally, on your OS and your personal Calibre configuration. DaltonST |

If there was a similar tool for setting the Add Books->Reading metadata->Read metadata from file contents rather than file name option on a per library basis, it would be game, set and match to DaltonST Code: e.g. add_books_metadata_from_file_name={'Main':'False', 'Media':'True'}Last edited by BetterRed; 04-17-2018 at 12:41 AM. Version 1.0.94: New GUI Tool [Experimental]

Version 1.0.94 -2018-01-12 New GUI Tool: EXPERIMENTAL Per-Library Tweak for Adding Books for 'read file metadata' from either file contents or file name. As always, it is highly recommended to test this in multiple Test Libraries, and not your "real" Libraries. DaltonST Last edited by DaltonST; 01-15-2018 at 01:05 PM. Reason: zip file deleted; see Version 1.0.95 instead. |

Version 1.0.95 New GUI Tool: Display 'Polish Books' Job Font-Embedding Failures

Version 1.0.95 -2018-01-15 New GUI Tool: Display 'Polish Books' Job Font-Embedding Failures and Failed Books See the attached example. Also, the following new GUI Tool, although still in beta testing, is being made available for interested users to test in their test libraries: Version 1.0.94 -2018-01-12 New GUI Tool: EXPERIMENTAL Per-Library Tweak for Adding Books for 'read file metadata' from either file contents or file name. See a previous post for an example documenting how to use it. DaltonST |

Version 1.0.96: Per-Library Tweak to Specify Auto-Add Directory by Library

Version 1.0.96 -2018-01-19 New GUI Tool: EXPERIMENTAL Per-Library Tweak to Specify Auto-Add Directory by Library. See the attached image, which includes ToolTip instructions and examples. ADDED: Quote:
As indicated above, this new GUI Tool is EXPERIMENTAL, so you should first test it in your Test Libraries before activating it for your "real" Libraries. Given the nature of this new GUI Tool, that means that you should not Quick Switch to a "real" Library while testing it, nor start Calibre with the "last-used Library" being a "real" Library. You have to proactively activate, configure and customize this new GUI Tool to make it functional, so if you do nothing, then it can do nothing either. Its use is totally optional.
