I don't know if it makes a difference, but for me it would always be the build-in author-column.

Will it copy everything or can I choose which UC it copies?

I tested it 2 different ways but with the same libraries.

I can copy from one library to another just fine and as an unexpected bonus I can also copy a category from the library where it exists to one where it doesn't.

I can test with 2 different libraries as well if you want me to?

Yes. Use it like you would in real life, but make backups of your "real" metadata.db files first.

Until this new tool is 100% safe and accurate, it is going nowhere except to another Beta test.

I have personally tested both of these ad nauseam, so they are ready to be "acceptance tested" by those who requested them and by those who may be interested.

As always, you should test any functionality in your "test" libraries to ensure that it works for you, personally, on your OS and your personal Calibre configuration.

- the per library Author sort method tool works for me.

Heads up for others:

• the plugin specific tweaks are behind the Plugin Tweaks button at the bottom of the left hand list in Preferences->Tweaks -- it is easily overlooked.
  
• make sure you check the Per-Library Author Sort Copy Method option (highlighted in green in above screen shot) at the bottom of the JS configure dialogue - I neglected to do that, so I was scratching my head for a moment.

If there was a similar tool for setting the Add Books->Reading metadata->Read metadata from file contents rather than file name option on a per library basis, it would be game, set and match to DaltonST

e.g. add_books_metadata_from_file_name={'Main':'False', 'Media':'True'}

The ToolTip instructions should say use a Preferences > Tweak > Plugins value of job_spy_auto_add_directory as in:

As indicated above, this new GUI Tool is EXPERIMENTAL, so you should first test it in your Test Libraries before activating it for your "real" Libraries.

Given the nature of this new GUI Tool, that means that you should not Quick Switch to a "real" Library while testing it, nor start Calibre with the "last-used Library" being a "real" Library.

You have to proactively activate, configure and customize this new GUI Tool to make it functional, so if you do nothing, then it can do nothing either. Its use is totally optional.
