Hardware wise, Apple is a great company. They make some incredibly useful and well-designed stuff. I really like their stuff, but iTunes for Windows is not on that list. It's slow, often fails to recognize if my devices are attached, and has issues because I want to store my content on a portable harddrive. The other gigantic issue with iTunes is the help system which when I type in "device not showing up" found 103 entries for things like adding files to my device, installing iTunes, converting mp3s, but nothing on getting an attached device to show up. All I had to do was restart iTunes after it had been restarted after updating the software. ![]() I needed to upgrade my iTouch OS to 4.2. This necessitated having to upgrade iTunes itself which necessitated having to upgrade QuickTime as well. The entire process took about an hour. It was just annoying. |

Surely you’re not referring the mouse and GUI that Apple stole from X Window? |

^I've seen worse stores though. The iTunes store is an absolute dream in comparison to Blackberry's AppWorld.

Apparently since the last "storm" a couple of weeks ago a tree branch has grown in such a way that even in not so hard wind it smacks hard against our house. Just over my bedroom window.
Before it only did that with hard winds but now it isn't blowing that hard. I have slumbered for a couple of hours tonight, half listening to the noise, but now I'm wide awake and it's only 4.30. My father was planning in cutting down the tree as soon as all the leaves had fallen off. I'm hoping he can saw off that branch asap (though I doubt he will since he's not the one being kept awake) otherwise I might have to camp out in the living room to get some sleep. Not sure what I'm going to do now. Earplugs aren't an option atm because of my still healing ear infection. |

I thought you were the resourceful one in the family! Can't you take a saw to the branch? If not, why not throw a length of para-cord over the branch and tie it out of the way until it get's cut? A heavy bolt tied to the end of the cord should get it up and over... Stitchawl |

If I had one of those saws on a pole I could cut if off from my bedroom windows but the tree is so close to the building that more likely than not it breaks one or more windows. I tried sleeping on the couch this morning but because of the wind Lexie was restless, first she kept going through the noisy catflaps and then she decided that the only safe place to lie on was my pillow. More windy weather is predicted for the coming days. As soon as my father's up I'm going to ask (beg) if he can cut that branch of today. If that doesn't work I'll offer to work for free for a day or week. |
