Font, ScreenSaver & USBNetwork Hacks for Kindle 2.x, 3.x & 4.x

I just changed the screen saver images on my hacked Kindle3. Now I'm getting a blank (white) screen instead of an image.

What I did is erase the old images in my Kindle, and then replace them with the new images that I want to use. (I didn't reboot my Kindle. Do I need to do that?)

Has anybody run across this problem? Is there an easy way to fix it?

I love the screen saver hack, when it works...

Restarting your Kindle should fix it.

@metr0man: No, because, as yifanlu said, they bundle a jailbreak in their installer. If someone were to repackage it using our 'usual' way (hack signed), it would probably work, though.

@meem: Looks like your Kindle isn't jailbroken. You wouldn't happen to have uninstalled the jailbreak first? (The reset to factory defaults would most certainly cause this if you were using the latest version of my jb).

Short answer: reinstall a jailbreak, uninstall your hacks, and *then* uninstall the jailbreak (has to be the last one to go).

Yes, I think you are true.
But what about update ?
Should I uninstall ss and fonts hacks every time I want to update ?
I succeeded to update KDX from 2.5.2 to version 2.5.6 only when I used "Update_kindle_2.5.8_B004.bin" file,
is there a reson for that ?

hi i have a problem:
after i jailbreaked my kindle i used the screensaver hack and so far everithing worked fine.

Then i hacked the font and after i copied the new font in the folder font in linkfont i used the auto reboot but the device stopped at the screen with the tree.

When i unplug it from the pc the screen is white!!!
What should i do?

i canceled the auto file but nothing.

@Anafasips: See the numerous posts about fonts quirk on some K3 devices. Basically, switch to another font, or use an FT override.

Well, I did all those instructions.
I have same this problem with two devices (KDX), both stopped at 2.5.6 version after successful update.

As an experiment, I converted Constantia into a font set.

I installed ScreenSaver hack on Kindle 3 with Special Offers (with ad).
Firmare version: 3.2, first I installed jailbrake 0.7, then ScreenSaver hack.
There was no errors during installation. But steel ScreenSaver with add is active.
Help me, please.

I found the same thing with my KSO so I don't think the screensaver hack will override the KSO screensaver system.

I just installed 4.6.N_k2 fonts on my 2.5.6 jailbroken kindle. My goal is to be able to read Cyrillic, which works fine. It also changed the default font for my English books. Is there a way to reset English fonts to native kindle fonts while keeping all the additional fonts that come with the fonts hack?

@dablya: On a 2.x system, not easily (You'd have to create a custom font based on the font you actually like for latin scripts, but with an extended range of unicode glyphs to support cyrillic).

I downloaded it and read though the readme file but cant find any mention of it?

@Treah: Like the name imply, it's a 'dummy' script that was used a while ago to ease support by logging some basic checks. It's mostly useless now .
