It was still wildly foggy when we went to haul of some oversized recycling at 930 this morning!

Went out grocery shopping this AM. Some of my fellow shoppers should have stayed home and made the store staff much happier. No rain predicted until Thursday (2025-Jan-02).

Thunderstorms just roared through - stopped those pesky fireworks - natural sound effects are more impressive ....

It's a chilly morning, 2℃. I've already heard several neighbours scraping the ice off their car windows. Eventually it'll warm up to 4℃, which is below average for this time of year. In the morning we can get some sunny spells, but this afternoon will be rainy.
On Sunday early in the morning snow is predicted, but it will warm up to 10℃, so that won't last long. |

It looks like the season has finally decided that it wants to be winter. The high temperature for the day was 32°F. It was very cloudy and windy most of the day.
The high temperatures for the next ten days are expected to be in the 30s, with snow expected on Monday and then again next Saturday. At those temperatures, Monday's snow will still be on the ground when Saturday's snow arrives. My driveway goes up hill to meet the road and gets good sun from the southwest, but this time of year the sun isn't strong enough to be much help. I'm looking forward to April. |

Our high temp for the day was 33°F. It was cloudy and very breezy. The snow is supposed to start late tonight, but the forecast has changed a bit. The main track of the storm should pass just south of us and we should only get an inch or two. We'll see. But it looks like we won't break the freezing point for the next week or more, so whatever we do get will likely stick around. |

True - I am retired with nowhere to get to tomorrow - hence my comments.
Freezing rain tonight & tomorrow morning - should have expected this - the early predictions were for "a warmer than normal" winter .... right .... NOT ... |

No hope for snow for the next 3 weeks according to the weatherfolk. Makes me want to go out and purchase a new snow shovel.

Waiting for the snow to arrive - we're under a winter weather advisory for what the local news stations are touting as a "major storm" = snow/sleet/freezing rain tonight, 1-3 inches (any amount will paralyze the region).
Wasn't worried until last night when Pixie cat (who usually sleeps on top of the covers in her hammock between my knees) demanded that I lift the blankies and let her snuggle down glued to my ribs - and fell asleep. She NEVER sleeps under the blankies. So now I'm expecting at least a blizzard, if not a glacier, to arrive tonight. ![]() If the power goes out, at least I'll have a bed warmer ... ![]() |
