I have a microUSB to lightning adapter on one of my cables. I have it on the cable that goes with my backup battery. That means I have the cable I need depending on what I want to charge.

On September 12, many of the colors & configurations were available (although some said limited quantities and some had longer delivery times). I was busy at the time, so I just placed an order right away and got back to what I was doing.

I ordered the black wi-fi with special offers (this one didn't mention any shipping delays or limited inventory). It arrived today. However, it looks like it has the grainy screen quality issue.

Looks like most configurations are out of stock again. I wish we had some information on whether this is all about delays or discontinuation.

Thanks. I notice the issue when I look at my Oasis in the dark. I always read in a lighted room and most screen problems (graininess, light cones, shadow blotches etc) are not visible then, so they don't bother me. The text on my Voyage is a bit crisper, but I'm pretty satisfied with the Oasis too. It's still a lot better than my Basic Kindles were (I've never used a Keyboard or a Paperwhite).

The Oasis is completely gone now from Amazon UK. I am hoping for a new ereader soon, although now they've launched the new Fire I'm not sure how optimistic that wish is.

Actually they say at least one wifi+3G will be in this week

The Oasis and basic Kindle are the only 8th generation devices. The PaperWhite and the Voyage are still 7th generation. I think it is much more likely that one of those would be updated instead.

I would love this 7.8" screen on a Kindle that a lot of new android e-ink devices and the kobo aura One have gotten.

Agreed; the drop-down you get when you start typing in a search string reflects what other people have searched for; it's not a match to products.
