Is this the 4.0.7523 update?

I got my new Aura One yesterday and it was updated it to 7523 during its first sync. Overnight, from 100% charge it had fallen to 10% by lunchtime today whilst sleeping.

I'll charge it again and hopefully it will just be a calibration issue with the battery, but I'll be interested if people who've had their reader for longer and who have applied the update are seeing the same battery drain.

The 4.0.7523 update is NOT the update that is hoped will fix the battery drain. That update has not yet been released.

Thanks for the clarification. Now, fingers crossed that they will release the fix pretty soon as I want to play with my new shiny!

I haven't let it stop me playing with mine. I just did the initial setup via Kobo Desktop instead of Wi-fi. I always have all Wi-fi options permanently disabled. I haven't had any excessive draining so far. The battery life isn't as good as previous models, but we knew that before buying, so no surprises there.

Despite disabling auto sync in the conf file, turning off wifi + auto light settings, and keeping light levels low, my KA1 still randomly drains most of its charge sometimes when I leave it in sleep mode overnight (but not other times). I've given up trying to figure out what's causing it and now blame RNGesus. Hopefully the next firmware update will fix the issue.

The intermittent nature of the problem is the most frustrating. For two days there was no problem and between yesterday morning and evening the device was drained.

It amazes me that Kobo cannot rush out a fix to a problem that reflects badly on its new flagship reader.

Very frustrating.

Thanks for that. I turned off all wifi options and so-far, no sign of a drop off in battery.

Now I can read!

It is frustrating. However, do you really want Kobo to rush out a fix without doing enough testing to make sure the cure is not worse than the disease? Personally, I'd rather wait the extra time. I really don't want to relive the fun that I had when a Windows out of band update to fix a zero day issue caused about half the corporate computers to bluescreen on startup.

For myself, since I added the PeriodicAutoSync=false item to the configuration file, I haven't seen excessive battery drain. Though from other's experiences, that could be happenstance.

I would want a quick fix. Maybe not a general release, but something.

Don't you think the intermittent nature of the problem is probably the reason Kobo can't come up with a quick fix?

If my "intermitant" bugs could be reproduced so frequently/easily, It would make my day.

That depends of the nature of problem. If the problem exist only on some devices, then may be a hardware failure. They couldn't cure those problems with a software update. Recall and exchange of the affected devices is the only option. A big loss of the company...
I think Kobo is fighting with the patience of his costumers...

if Kobo had done enough testing in the first place then there would be no need for a fix.

best wishes koboy

Did anyone get an update on the 26th like promised? Did it help with the battery issue?
