Get an Excellent FREE PDF of Voltaire's Candide.
Cordella Collegiate Bookshelf is a collection of PDFs of literary classic books--both fiction and non-fiction. It is published by a company called The Write Direction. You can find out more about the company here.

One of the books in the Collection is Voltaire's Candide. The Write Direction is offering a free copy of it. Here is the direct link to it.

Of course, Voltaire's Candide has been long out of copyright. You can get digital copies of it, free, from "everywhere." I wouldn't waste your time and my time, too, by posting most of those. However, this one by The Write Direction is extremely nicely done. The 4+ page biography of Voltaire might be unique to this edition, and might be worth the download of the ebook just to have that (that's the reason that I've downloaded it, myself). This edition does have a clickable table of contents.

I believe that this is a legal free download because it is offered as such on this webpage of The Write Direction.

ADDENDUM: A warning. Do not click on the link for "more info," on The Write Direction's homepage (I referenced it and linked to it above), below an offer for the entire College Bookshelf Collection on CD for $14.95. It is infected with ransomware. I scanned the Voltaire Candide pdf file with my antivirus software, and, as I thought, it is fine. The website was probably hacked, and I doubt that that the company is aware of the issue; I'm going to contact them and make them aware of it.

The Mouse on the Moon is the second book in Leonard Wibberley's Grand Fenwick series, following the much better known The Mouse that Roared (which is still an excellent book - I just reread it a few months ago). Moon has recently dropped to FREE at Kindle US, so I'm now looking forward to a chance to reread this one too. My memory is that none of the sequels were quite as awesome as the first one, but still I remember liking them all.

I have most of the series in physical and had been waiting for the ebook versions. And have read the first four ebooks (I think the first was free or heavily discounted (US$1.99), and the next three were available in the Kindle Lending Library). Luckily, the Estate finally came to its senses, and released the ebooks, and at a reasonable price.

The fifth (Beware of the Mouse) is very, very rare in the physical world, Ebay wanted US$300+ for a copy (before the ebook was released). Unfortunately, it looks like the fifth book is not in the Kindle Lending Library.

My belief is that the Estate sourced the first four books from pirated versions, and didn't not further proof them. There was no pirated version of the fifth book, so it's a fresh scan, and the quality is unknown.

I also got Roared when it was on sale, and hope the rest of them go on sale eventually too. Although actually, at $3.99 for the rest of them, that's sort of my limit for backlist/books I already own in DTB, so if I get into the series again, I would buy at that price point. It's odd that Roared is now the most expensive ebook in the series at $4.49 - usually the first one is discounted to get folks hooked - I am glad I got it on sale. Anyway, enjoy - I will be too!
