I sampled some holds and the numbers I am seeing are more rational:

Quote:
There are (at most) 3 people ahead of you in line.
Total holds: 3
Your holds position: #2 on 1 copy

There are (at most) 5 people ahead of you in line.
Total holds: 9
Your holds position: #7 on 2 copies

There are (at most) 5 people ahead of you in line.
Total holds: 18
Your holds position: #3 on 4 copies
It appears that the "There are (at most)..." is just the total holds divided by the number of copies without taking your position into account.

I just checked out my first book that has Kobo as a format option! I noticed that the Kobo format does not show up in the Advanced Search drop-down list.

that's what I had thought, but 174 divided by 7 does not equal 15???

Any chance that your library has the "Advantage" checkmark on some books? If so, that means your specific library in a consortium of libraries has bought copies of its own or contributed more to them and users of that library supposedly get "first dibs" on those books.

http://partners.overdrive.com/servic...nts/advantage/

So, you say your library (consortium?) has 7 copies. Maybe your specific library bought 5 of the 7 copies available to users of that Overdrive site. So even though you're 174th in line, you have specific access to the 5 copies that not all the other users in line have.

It's just a guess - I've never been able to tell when I'm in line if I've been bumped because of an advantage to someone else in line. I have occasionally moved back in line, but it's rare enough I've just assumed I didn't enter the number in my tracking spreadsheet correctly in the first place. It could be for the most part, my libraries are the ones most likely to buy advantage, so I usually have the benefit.

I didn't notice anything about Advantage, but it is indeed a consortium of numerous county libraries, so maybe that is what is going on.

I discovered that if you click on Collections, New Audiobook Additions, sorted by date, you get one listing; but if you click on Subjects, see all audiobooks, sorted by date added, you get an entirely different order.

Whichever way, there's a filter for Date Added for week, month, etc. that helps somewhat to see the most recent books.

Both of my libraries have now switched.

My main library still seems to be missing over 50% of the books they had before. So odd.

I am not a fan of the new layout. The Date Added sorting doesn't work all the time. Hopefully this is just a glitch and they will get it fixed soon.

I have never seen Kobo listed as a format option in OverDrive. Would you mind sharing the name of the library and the title of a book that shows this option?

This has to be the unfriendliest version of Overdrive for desktop that I've ever used and I've been using it since it started.

I agree I am not liking it on my desktop, but I like it for my phone and tablet. Our library has now rolled it in (not as a "try it", but for real), and I completely am un-thrilled with the new interface. Couldn't they have just "revamped" the mobile app version, and keep the desktop version the way it was?

I think this is only available on the Kobo Aura 1. When you borrow a book, if it is available through the Kobo store the loan will be fulfilled via the Kobo store in kepub format.

No, this thread is about the Overdrive website. My libraries have now switched to the new format. A book that I had on loan was auto-checked out to me. I noticed that one of my book checkouts gave me three options to select for the download file: Kindle, EPUB and Kobo. I selected Kindle. I don't know what would have happened if I selected Kobo since I don't have Kobo desktop software and thought maybe it would try to open the download file that way. It was only an option on one book and not any other books on my shelf. The global Overdrive search page for the book as well as the details page at my library say the formats are Kindle, ePub and Overdrive Read. I saw the Kobo option only on my bookshelf after borrowing it. I noticed that Kobo is not a format option in the Advanced Search boxes.

I realize that this is about the OverDrive website. However you do own a KA1. All I am suggesting is that once one has done the activation of the Kobo library integration, then and only then will you see Kobo as an option on the library web site.

I encountered quite a few bad links yesterday. I have access to 3 Overdrive libraries. Two of them have switched and they were giving me some bad links. One of them used to have a huge selection in Newsstand but now only carry 55 magazines and newspaper. I don't know if that's related to the new OD site switch or just a decision by the library or OD to cut the selection.

I just had a look at your library and I see nothing wrong. I can go to advanced search and select 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, etc. and I do see books published after the one you last borrowed. So searching for new books is working no problem.

Thanks for the suggestion but that's not the way it works currently. I may own a KA1, but the Overdrive website that I have seen the Kobo format on is not linked to my KA1. Moreover it was only on one book so far even though the other books are also in the Kobo store library.

Also what you describe is not the way that library integration works. I don't see the Kobo option on the Overdrive library that is linked. The way it works with the library that is linked is that you actually don't select a book format to download after you checkout a book. You leave it with the option to select. It still shows the usual Kindle or EPUB format options. The minute you select one of those options then it no longer syncs with your KA1. It does not show you a Kobo option.
