I suggest you to tweet this problem to the official twitter account @kobohelp.
I did it, but if they receive more tweets about this problem, i think they will study it.

Maybe you could add a message to the thread I created for this bug to confirm I'm not the only one ;-)

No, this bug is back on my Touch (old model, mark3) too.
It wasn't present with fw 2.8.x.

I feel sorry for Kobo right now but it doesn't surprise me at all, as this has become Kobos mysterious ways of building firmware versions.

It isn't just the Konami code anymore.

Introducing the Kobo code: break, break, fix, fix, break, fix, break, fix, fix, fix, break.

The reason why I decided to stick with my firmware version (2.8.1). It works fine for me and I didn't encounter any obvious bug, so I'll just stick with it even though the geek in me likes to update his devices.

Yes, thats what I did too, initially. But when the Metazoa patch became available for fw 3.0.0 there was no reason for me not to upgrade to 3.0.0. And I must say: i do like Pocket.

I've said it before: Kobo should have started to develop a totally new firmware from scratch when it introduced the 6" Aura and roll it out only to the newer devices such as the Aura HD. And putting the Touch, Glo (and probably Mini) EOL as these devices are 3 years old. I'm sure a lot of bugs would be gone permanently if Kobo had done that.
IMHO, the reappearing bugs are becoming really embarassing or awkward for Kobo and is certainly not contributing to a positive brandawareness.

P.S. If Kobo wants to keep a non-frontlight device in its line of e-readers then develop/redesign a new Kobo Touch and call it Touch HD (Specs of the Glo but without the frontlight).

That would be a fairly stupid thing to do. The amount of work involved would be to big. And, as with any new software project, the number of bugs in the early versions are much higher than the later versions. I think that Kobo's basic strategy is right. The problem is that you, me, everyone else here and Kobo all have different ideas on what the exact direction should be and what the important bugs to fix are.

You should check your facts. The Glo and Mini were released in September or October 2012. That makes them 14 months old. The Touch was originally release in June 2011, so it is about 2.5 years old. But, there have been three different hardware version so far. I keep expecting it to disappear, but it is apparently still a very popular model.

An interesting idea, but it would need to be a lot less expensive than the Glo to make it worthwhile. I suspect this isn't possible.

My Touch finally auto-updated from 2.6 and I'm disappointed to see that there is NO functionality to filter by read/unread/finished etc in the library. Filtering to see just the unread books in the library seems like a basic feature everyone would use.

In library view can you touch the area labelled "Show: All". As far as I know in f/w 3.0.0 and above you can change that to select All, Reading, Unread or Finished.

What device? It's not there on the my Touch with 3.0.1 It was apparently not a feature included for the Touch with this firmware version which has been noted a couple times earlier in this thread.

Thumbs up Wikipedia and google!!!

Hey, I've just noticed something GREAT that seems to have gone unnoticed. Or maybe I'm so newbie here that it was a granted old feature I've just discovered.
  • Long press on a word or long-drag over a sentence > Dictionary and highlighting toolbar is called.
  • Look at your search icon (the magnifying glass one).
  • YEEEESS. Wikipedia and Google available as options.

It actually calls the Internet browser on a floating window (like the image viewer). If Kobo just adds an address bar, it would be a PERFECT feature.

(Yes, Kobo not only puts bugs in their new FW updates but USEFUL features too, truth be said. )

I really do hope that they fix the following "small" issues in the coming 3.1.0. (or pleeeeaaaaase in 3.2.0 at most):

Not me because I delete books when I've finished reading them. Everything on my reader is being read or unread. Goes back to what David said about everyone having different expectations of what to fix in the firmware.

I reported this issue to kobo support right after the v3.0.0 came out. Customer support followed my instructions and confirmed the issue. They promised to send it to developers to fix the issue. Let's hope they do it soon. I read pdf books in landscape mode also and this issue is extremely annoying. But at the moment you can change pages in landscape mode by taping on the TOP or BOTTOM of the page.

kobo touch, bug in v3.0.1: i'm reading an epub (don't know if it happens with particular books) and the kobo goes to sleep and then off. switch on again and go back reading. bug: page turn is (quite) slow. workaround: use the page slider to move a section and your page turn will be fast again

Filtering library display in 3.1.1

Actually, that functionality IS there in firmware 3.1.1.

Go to the home screen.

Select "Library" in the lower left.

Select "Books" from the menu.

On the "Books" screen you'll see the heading "Books." Beneath it, the first word is "Show:"

Touch that word and a menu appears, letting you filter the list. Menu choices are "All," "Reading," "Unread," and "Finished."

This is nice. I'll use the Reading one a lot. Too bad they removed "On Device" from the list. It was "All" and "On Device" and I used On Device all the time to keep all the archived books from cluttering up the list.
