well, i *have* moved since then, although not that far, but so has she (she used to live in a completely different neighborhood, although still not that far). unfortunately we both moved to the same place. the irony is that there are a few people from my "past" that i would be really happy to see again. why don't i ever randomly run into *them* ???

actually i think i will do that, if it's a number i don't recognize, until i can think of a good strategy. but since she asked me "would you mind i call you, really ?" and i idiotically said no (seriously though, what kind of question is that ? i couldn't decently tell her "yes, actually, i'd really rather you didn't" even if i *had* had the presence of mind to do it) i feel a bit dishonest and caught out about the whole situation and i just *hate* feeling that way.

the worst is, that is actually TRUE !!! i *can't* remember my own number. which is precisely why i just give people my card.

If you carry a bag - just be unable to locate a card. Then have the person write their name & number on a cocktail napkin. Once they're gone, place your drink on top of the napkin. Problem solved!

Could be worse. I'm often getting stopped and talked to in public places by former co-worker (I've worked in several Big Companies) and I don't even know them. But they know me...
